Inspiring Conversations with Kaetlynn Pastore of K.P Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaetlynn Pastore.

Hi Kaetlynn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After graduating high school in 2014, I moved out of my parents’ house and was out on my own for the first time. Over the next three years, I got very into health and fitness but not in a good way. I was seriously restricting my calories, tracking everything I ate, I was spending 1-2hrs in the gym almost daily, I had a list of crazy rules like, ‘no food after 8 pm’, and I was binge eating as a subconscious rebellion against my strict regime. In 2018, all of that changed when I became pregnant for the first time. Now, I couldn’t be caught up with how little I could nourish myself so that I could have abs (which I’ve now learned is a huge lie btw), I needed to focus on feeding myself so that I could feed a growing human. Suddenly, gone were the days of 2 hours at the gym, calorie counting, and the endless cycle of restricting and binging. I was intuitively eating, and only working out 1-2 times a week. I stayed on this mellow fitness track until after having my second baby in 2019. After battling postpartum depression, not once but twice now, I needed something to start feeling like myself again. My husband and I got a gym membership and, on the days, we didn’t have a babysitter I was following e-books at home. Fast forward to 2021 and I’m more in love with health and fitness than I have ever been before! I’m finishing up school for wellness coaching and personal training, I love my fitness routine, and I’m reaching my goals without restricting or obsessing. I can’t wait to start helping mamas reach their goals and love their bodies again!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My health and wellness journey hasn’t been the smoothest. When you come off the path of binging, seriously restricting, and pushing your body to look a certain way, being pregnant is a huge shock. It’s a mind game. You are no longer in control of your body and how it looks. You’re going to look in the mirror and be bigger every day, which can sometimes be someone’s worst nightmare. Then, even after you have a baby, nothing looks quite the same, you can’t exercise for 6 weeks, and you’re going through the trials of new motherhood. It isn’t always as glamorous as it seems.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about K.P Wellness?
I’m just starting out as a wellness coach but I’m so excited! Wellness Coaching is one of the more obscure health coaching fields, I feel like you always see either nutrition coach or personal trainer. Wellness coaching includes nutrition, fitness, and help implementing holistic practices like meditation, journaling, and aromatherapy. I make custom workout guides for people to follow on their own, tailored for whatever fitness level they are (bodyweight only, dumbbell only, or full gym). I also do 1-1 personal training. I also offer custom nutrition guides based around whatever goals you have (even something like trying to holistically heal PCOS). You can even do a full program where I do nutrition, personal training, and help implement healthy habits. I specialize in mothers, but will work with women of all backgrounds! I really pride myself on not being the type of health influencer that will preach super high protein, pre-workout, or energy drinks. You can lift weights and exercise and find more natural ways to fuel and change your body!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
If you only follow my wellness page on Instagram, you might not know that in addition to loving fitness and wellness, I’m obsessed with fashion and beauty! I’m also a licensed esthetician and work at a spa in Denver!
