Hi Karie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in mortgage fraud investigations and underwriting, which gave me a deep understanding of the entire real estate transaction process. I had a front-row seat to how deals come together—and fall apart—which allowed me to develop a keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills that serve me well to this day.
Interestingly, becoming a realtor wasn’t on my radar. I valued freedom and independence, and every realtor I knew seemed to be constantly tethered to their phones, always on the go. It didn’t seem like a fit for me. However, I found myself drawn to real estate marketing, where I loved connecting with people and telling the story of a home. Still, I felt like I had more to give.
My husband saw that potential before I did and encouraged me to get my real estate license. After initially resisting, I decided to give it a shot. I got licensed in record time, and to my surprise, people were already reaching out, asking me to help them buy or sell their homes—a true honor and privilege.
What sets me apart in real estate is that there’s virtually nothing I haven’t seen. My background means I understand the totality of a transaction, from lending to closing, and I excel at keeping things on track. I go above and beyond for my clients, whether it’s navigating negotiations, anticipating issues, or making sure they feel supported every step of the way.
Today, I can confidently say this career has been incredibly rewarding. Helping people find their dream homes or achieve their goals in selling is not just work—it’s a way to connect, advocate, and make a lasting impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it! Right after I got licensed, the world faced a global pandemic, which disrupted the real estate industry in countless ways. Navigating that uncertainty while building a business was a challenge, especially while managing my own health struggles, being a mom to busy kids, and supporting a husband with a demanding schedule. It was a lot to balance, but I’ve always believed that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.
One thing I didn’t fully realize when I started was just how much real estate is about guiding people through one of the largest, most significant transactions of their lives. It’s not just about buying and selling homes—it’s about wearing many hats, offering support, and putting out fires when things go awry. And let me tell you, some of those fires are large and disruptive. As agents, we’re truly hired to handle the unexpected, to be problem solvers, and to make sure our clients feel supported no matter what arises.
To keep everything on track, I leaned into my love for organization and technology, developing systems that allow me to manage the chaos without constantly being tethered to work. These systems give me the freedom to focus on my clients while also finding balance in my personal life.
That said, I still have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy life outside of work. I love serving my clients so much that it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle. But those systems—and my passion for what I do—help me handle the challenges while continuing to grow and thrive.

Something surprising that most people who know me or my work might not know is that I never planned to become a realtor. In fact, I resisted the idea for a long time! But once I dove in, I discovered how much I love combining my skills in negotiation, marketing, and organization to guide clients through some of the biggest decisions of their lives.
What truly surprises people is my passion for systems and organization, especially when it comes to leveraging tech platforms. I thrive on creating processes that make my business more efficient and allow me to deliver a concierge-level experience without the constant hustle. This passion has even led me to help other business owners streamline their operations. It’s incredibly rewarding to share what I’ve learned and see others gain clarity, confidence, and freedom in their own businesses.
