Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrin Spadafora
Hi Katrin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Real Estate career began in early 2021 when I saw an ad to get your Real Estate license with a guaranteed offer to join a Brokerage. After getting furloughed twice by United Airlines due to COVID, I saw this as a great opportunity for a new career path. I submitted my interview video and crossed my fingers. I heard back about a week later that they wanted me to join their Brokerage with all my school expenses paid for. Great! But I still had to pass all my exams. A few months later I was officially licensed and ready to sell the American Dream.
I worked simultaneously as a Flight Attendant and Realtor for about a year before I quit the Airlines and decided to be a Realtor full time. Unfortunately that first Brokerage fell apart and decided to pull out of Colorado completely, but before it crashed and burned I was able to make my way out unscathed and was introduced to Ann Wymore. At the time, Ann was with Berkshire Hathaway and was in need of an assistant. I figured what better way to learn the ropes of Real Estate in real time than to be the assistant to a top producing team lead such as Ann. Ann taught me the ins and outs of transactions, introduced me to local vendors, and really showed me what it takes to be successful in this industry. Since joining her team I’ve gained tons of experience and quickly went from being the boss’s assistant to one of the top producing Agents on the team. In 2023 the team decided to leave Berkshire Hathaway to join Ann in starting Navigate Realty. Now, we have a beautiful new office in Westminster and are on our way to becoming a well known name in the area!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From going to a an hourly paid job where the company made my schedule, to being completely commission based, working 7 days a week including evenings, becoming a marketing expert, creating an LLC, figuring out how to file taxes as a business owner, etc… was quite the transition! Most Realtors have 1 maybe 2 transactions in their first year, but I was determined on this new venture and was able to close 12 deals by 2022! Even though I completely burned through my savings account in the process, I was able to make more than I ever did at the Airlines on my own terms. Having inconsistent paychecks is hard to get used to. No more bi-monthly automatic transfers to my bank account. I’ve gone 4 months at a time without making a dime while still having all the monthly expenses it takes to be a Realtor. That’s something I’ll never get used to!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in helping people buy and sell Real Estate. I have a background in Home Staging and am able to offer Sellers my expertise in how they can get top dollar for their properties, and have excellent negotiating skills to ensure my buyers are getting the best deal possible in their market.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
WASH YO HANDS! And be kind to others always.
