Inspiring Conversations with Leanna Racine of Core Connections Pelvic Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanna Racine.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I actually found my way into physical therapy after a pretty serious knee injury that turned my own life upside down for a while. Movement and sports have always been a big part of who I am, and suddenly not being able to do the things I loved was really hard. PT helped me get that part of myself back, and I knew I wanted to help other people experience that, too.

When I discovered pelvic health, I was immediately hooked. I loved that it tackled the topics no one really talks about—bladder, bowel and sexual health, pelvic pain, pregnancy and postpartum. These issues touch nearly every part of our lives, from movement and relationships to our social lives, and in many ways are central to our identity and how we feel in our bodies. Yet so many women suffer silently, not even realizing there’s help.

After working in several clinics and eventually becoming a clinic director, I had a pretty clear picture of the kind of care I believed in and why I wanted to do things differently from the traditional healthcare model. I opened Core Connections Pelvic Health to create the kind of practice I’d want for myself or someone I love. A place where pelvic health is our entire focus, patients feel genuinely heard and comfortable talking about anything, and we have the time and expertise to get to the root of what’s going on. After almost 10 years of practice, seeing women reclaim parts of their lives they thought they’d just have to live without is still what makes this work so meaningful to me!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. I opened Core Connections about a year after moving from Texas to Colorado, so I was building a business while still finding my own community in a relatively new city. I was also figuring out how to raise a young son while growing the business—navigating childcare, sick days, the mental load of motherhood, and the reality that owning a business (much like parenting) doesn’t really have an “off” switch.

During those early years, I also lost my father, and learning how to carry grief while continuing to show up as a mom, clinician, and business owner was incredibly difficult.

Those experiences have shaped the values behind Core Connections in a very real way. They taught me that health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. People are often seeking care while juggling full, complicated lives. Our goal at the clinic isn’t simply to treat symptoms; it’s to help women feel better in their bodies so they can show up fully for themselves and the people and things they love, through all seasons of life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Core Connections Pelvic Health is a specialty pelvic floor physical therapy practice in Centennial, and pelvic health isn’t just something we offer—it’s our entire focus. Our therapists specialize exclusively in this work, which means our patients receive expert care from clinicians who understand the complexities of pelvic health and do this every single day.

We treat everything from pregnancy and postpartum recovery to bladder and bowel issues, pelvic pain, painful sex, prolapse, endometriosis, and the hip, back, and core issues that often overlap. We’re known for digging deeper, connecting the dots, and figuring out the why behind symptoms rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Every visit is a full hour, one-on-one, and completely individualized. Our care is thoughtful, compassionate, hands-on, and evidence-based. What started with just me has grown into a small team of people who are incredibly skilled, curious, and committed to providing the specialized, thoughtful care that Core Connections was built around.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I wish I had known how much I would grow alongside my business. You don’t start out knowing exactly what you’re doing, and I definitely didn’t! There have been plenty of mistakes, pivots, moments of doubt, and lessons learned the hard way, but that’s also where so much of the growth happens – professionally and personally.

Find your people. Building a business can feel incredibly lonely, and having a community of other business owners, mentors, friends, and people who believe in my vision and genuinely understand the ups and downs has been invaluable to me.

And honestly, just leap. I’m someone who could probably research my way out of doing anything, but at some point you have to trust yourself and go for it. After 3 and a half years in business, I’m finally starting to understand that I won’t always know the right decision at the time, and having to course correct along the way is part of the journey!
