Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Schroeder.

Hi Melissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been a fan of photography and capturing moments for my family and friends. I have fond memories of my sister and I looking back through family albums when we were kids and listening to stories about family weddings, birthday and other events. The photos brought us back in time but it wasn’t until later in life that I realized how much that meant and that I wanted to be able to provide that same experience for my clients. Now I love that I get to create memories for people and their families!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business while also juggling other jobs and life responsibilities has definitely not been easy, but I’m so honored to be able to do what I do! My business took off during COVID, which provided some unique challenges. I love connecting with people, but safety is most important so I wore a mask during all my sessions, which sometimes made the “connection” a little tough. I also started my business while working another full time job and balancing the two became tricky at times – getting to sessions with a calendar full of meetings but I quickly realized that photography is where my passion lied and decided to make it happen. Now I’m in a position where I can devote much more time to my clients and I love it!

We’ve been impressed with Mel Schroeder Photography, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide classic, emotive and timeless wedding and portraits photography for my clients. I specialize in engagements, weddings, seniors and branding. I tend to be known for my light, bright and airy style when it comes to shooting and editing. I always seek out natural light and love shooting at morning golden hour – thanks to my wonderful clients for getting up with me at that time!

I am proud to provide an easy, personalized and exceptional experience from initial inquiry to photo delivery and help my clients craft their perfect photography experience. Even though I’m a photographer, I’m not the most comfortable in front of the camera, so it’s important to me that my clients feel cared for, heard and are satisfied with their photos.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Definitely! COVID truly made me understand my favorite part of my job. We were separated for so long, and it made me realize how often I take connection with others for granted. It’s truly an honor that “capturing connection and emotion” is what I get to do every day. I also learned quickly that exceptional customer service in my business is of upmost priority to me. Accommodating reschedules and cancellations was tough, but I knew I wanted my clients to feel happy and comfortable in such uncertain times.
