Inspiring Conversations with Nate Oswalt of Geek Way Homes at Great Way Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Oswalt.

Hi Nate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was working my previous job, I wanted to become a Real Estate investor. So my partner and I started a Real Estate Investment company. After doing one deal we decided that one of us needed to be a Real Estate Agent to save some money. I decided I would do it and when I found out that I can help people in the way I want and make even more money than I already was I was hooked. I put in my notice and dove in full speed. I got my license and went to work. My first year I was able to help ten clients fulfill their dreams and it went up from there. But that was not enough for me. I wanted everyone to be able to do what I was doing. So I started recruiting and training agents. Trying to give them the skills and knowledge I had. I did this because Everyone should be a winner. It makes life better when everyone is winning. Now I am a team leader with 4 direct reports, I have 15 agents in my downline which I have helped. It’s just fulfilling.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. In the beginning, you kind of come into real estate blind. You have to figure out the road by yourself. Most people just look at you as competition so they give you just enough to start but not enough to be a competitor. Even once you get going a market change can have you right back down to the starting point. It’s kind of crazy. It’s taken me five years to finally figure out how to weather the changes

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My job is to find and sell homes for the people. My main focus is finding homes for Geeks who are looking for some way to express their Geekdom. I am a Board Gamer, and I have a game room, But I have helped people who needed a library, a trophy room, and I have even helped a couple of people with Craft rooms. The best one I have helped was to find a retiring couple their dream home on the shore of a lake so they could fish and just watch the clouds. The biggest thing that I express in my business is that when I work with you we become family. You can come to me for anything and we will always be friends.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The biggest thing is all of life is to be happy. If you find someone who can make you happy and you are actually having a good time doing what you do then you will never work a day. So keep yourself out there. Be where the people are and make sure you are having a good time doing it.
