Inspiring Conversations with Nick Sheridan of Sheridan Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Sheridan.

Hi Nick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
So back when I was about 12 or 13 I started my own small landscaping company. As part of my weekly chores, I would cut the lawn and tidy up mulch beds, trim trees, etc. (my parents ran a tight ship). As time went on and neighbors continued to drive by, occasionally they would stop and ask if I was interested in cutting their lawn or laying down mulch. Fast forward a few years and I turned the operation into a small business that had 25+ weekly lawns in addition to other paid landscaping gigs. I was even able to hire a few friends! It wasn’t till much later that I realized how much I enjoyed being an entrepreneur.

After that I found myself working through my Mechanical Engineering undergrad at NC State. It was around this time that these devices called “drones” started coming out so I figured I would purchase one. After a few months of practice and obtaining my commercial license, I decided it was time to start making a few extra bucks by starting a new side hustle. Business #2 focused on providing aerial video and photography for real estate listings. In a hot North Carolina market, it worked out great.

Business #3 didn’t begin until after I resigned from my first job and moved West to start a new life with my wife. In the same year we: got married, moved across the country, and started new jobs. By stockpiling cash over the past few years we were able to purchase our first rental property. We were now landlords and the rental wasn’t even in the same state we were living in. Albeit a rocky start, as we refined our systems and processes, the real estate was so profitable that we were able to buy another rental the next year.

Business #4: Sheridan Events, LLC. So remember how we just got married? Well, for the wedding shower we built a champagne wall and it was a hit. Once we were all settled down in Colorado I just knew that these walls could become popular as well.

So to answer your question, my businesses have always been byproducts of different areas I was interested in at the time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! I’m a huge proponent of personal development and continuous improvement. So when times get tough, try to stay positive and turn it into a learning opportunity.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sheridan Events, LLC?
I think what sets me apart the most from others is my drive and focus. Since graduating college I have been hellbent on self-improvement and development. I also love trying new hobbies because I get the chance at learning new skills.

I got to where I am today by busting my ass – plain and simple. I live by the motto that if you want something then go get it. No, it wasn’t easy. There have been countless days where I questioned whether it was worth it but I just put my head down and remained focused.

My main lesson learned is that learning to be effective (getting things done) and efficient (getting the right things done) is the quickest way to the top.

I want the world to know that Sheridan Events is a brand that is built and not bought. Our products are made from the highest-grade materials on the market. Also, we do everything humanly possible to make sure that our customers are beyond satisfied. We also pride ourselves on feedback which we use as part of our continuous improvement process.
