Inspiring Conversations with Rachell Pritt of High Altitude Esthetics + Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachell Pritt.

Rachell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into owning my own facial studio in Breckenridge began in late 2020. I decided to go to cosmetology school in Denver to be a hairstylist. Shortly after getting started at school I realized I probably was not going to be into doing hair, but I had started working at a local salon in town as an assistant while I was in school. I ended up pursuing esthetics, but the connections I had made while working in the salon ended up being my doorway into going out on my own as an esthetician when the salon owner decided to open a skin studio space next door to the salon. I worked there for her for a year- and then bought the studio the following year. I love working right next door and having the support of other small local businesses and their clients!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think for me the hardest part was choosing a different career than the one had initially started out going for. That was really rough. When I first started feeling like I had made the wrong choice I kept it to myself for a while because I felt like I had such a good thing going at the salon I worked at. Eventually I knew I had to be honest with myself, family, and my employer. Coming out and saying it was the hardest part but after that things started falling into place pretty quickly once I decided to move forward with my decision. I trusted that I knew what I needed to do and it definitely paid off- I was immediately more comfortable and confident and it gave me a lot of peace of mind that I had made the right choice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Right now I am still in my first six months of business so I am just grazing the tip of the iceberg of what I want to do and offer in my business. First and foremost- I offer holistic facial experiences and specialize in high altitude skin and acne. I am very client-centric and the overall health of the skin is my main priority. No two treatments are ever the same. I use my knowledge, expertise, and intuition to provide customized holistic facial experiences. I enjoy learning about the lymphatic system, fascia, internal biological functions of the skin, gut, immune and nervous systems and implementing that knowledge and understanding into my treatments. Some things I find important to communicate about myself and my brand is non-judgment and creating a safe space for people to ask questions and be honest about their struggles. How our skin looks is about so much more than just beauty. Healthy skin is a reflection of a healthy and happy human.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am definitely a risk taker. I believe that if you do not take risks you will never know the true potential of who you are and what you have to offer. To me risk is stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing something you are not sure of exactly how it will play out- but having the courage to bet on yourself. Yes, things can go wrong or not look exactly as you would like them to, but keeping faith in yourself that you are smart enough and just straight up stubborn enough to not give up is what makes the difference between success and failure. You are never a failure until you give up.
