Inspiring Conversations with Rebecca Hoke of Resilient Future Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Hoke.

Hi Rebecca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My experiences with anxiety and depression as an adolescent brought me to the world of mental health care. Connecting with therapy and mental health treatment was lifesaving, and something I truly believe others deserve regardless of circumstances. This transformative experience inspired me to dig deeper into understanding myself and those around me, particularly those experiencing mental health concerns. I have always been someone to care and feel deeply for others and have been naturally drawn to helping professions, as modeled by my mother and both grandmothers. Experiencing therapy as a teen motivated me to work with teenagers when I grew up. I started studying psychology in high school and pursued schooling to become a therapist, earning my Masters of Social Work in 2016 and clinical licensure in 2019. I started my counseling private practice to provide excellent mental health care to the community. I have expanded my expertise into supervision of clinicians working towards their licensure as a way to increase the services available to those in need. Providing supervision to clinicians is another way I can make a positive impact on the mental health profession.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Any new path has its challenges. I was fortunate to have great supervision and mentorship that helped me develop professionally and become a skilled therapist. These mentors have also served as models for how to grow in this profession. After working for multiple years in the field I decided to start my own practice. It has been a steep learning curve to figure out how to run a business, manage a healthcare organization, and successfully bill insurance. These are the types of things that are not taught in school or general training for therapists, and I am certainly less passionate about these elements than I am about providing therapy services. I have pursued my own training and education to be able to address these challenges more effectively, while continuing to provide quality care to clients and supervision to staff. I could not have been successful without the support of the people in my life, and I aim to pass that along in as many ways as I can.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Resilient Future Counseling?
Resilient Future Counseling is a mental health private practice working with anyone ages 12 and older. We provide virtual services across Colorado and in person in Fort Collins. We work with a variety of mental health concerns, and have special expertise in treating trauma. Most insurance plans, including Medicaid/Medicare, are accepted as a way to help make therapy accessible for most people. We are dedicated to helping people connect with the services they need, and currently have therapists who are accepting new clients. My staff is made up of clinicians and administrators I have personally trained, which adds a layer of trust and confidence in their abilities. As a team, we work together to provide the best possible services to Colorado.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be our annual summer trip to my grandparents’ cottage on a lake in central Illinois. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to experience activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming. These trips would sometimes include side excursions to other cities, zoos, and state/county fairs. Time away from home was sometimes challenging, and now something I fondly remember as relaxing.
