Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Johnson.
Samantha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started therapy as a client at the age of 20. I had quite a bit of trauma in my childhood, and needed some help processing it. The person I found was lovely – she used mindfulness to help me ground and opened my eyes to what healthy relationships look like. That journey has continued and blossom since.
My path into this work has never been about finding the “right career”—it has always been about understanding what helps people heal. In my mid-twenties, I took a yoga teacher training. The practices of yoga and mindfulness have been so helpful in continuing to process my past and build a healthy future. Teaching yoga allowed me to witness firsthand how powerful it can be when people reconnect with themselves through mindfulness and embodied practices. That experience inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University, where I deepened my understanding of the intersection between psychology, neuroscience, spirituality, and whole-person wellness.
Shortly after my graduate program, I opened my own solo private practice in Frisco, Colorado. I began additional training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, a HUGE passion of mine, and a field that I felt deeply called to. In the past year, I have moved my practice’s office to Breckenridge, begun expanding and bringing on other clinicians, and have become a licensed clinical facilitator in Colorado’s legal natural medicine framework. Today, I serve as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and founder of Glow Collective Integrative Therapy, a group practice built around the belief that healing happens when people feel deeply seen, genuinely supported, and empowered to reconnect with their own inner wisdom.
Building Glow has allowed me to begin weaving together a team of compassionate clinicians who each offer unique expertise while sharing the same values of mindfulness, inclusivity, authenticity, and whole-person care. I feel truly lucky to do the work I do, and am excited for where the practice will go from here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many business owners, the journey has been incredibly rewarding—but certainly not without challenges.
One of the biggest transitions was shifting from being a solo practitioner to leading a group practice. Becoming a business owner requires an entirely different skill set than becoming a therapist, and I’ve spent countless hours learning about leadership, operations, marketing, and building systems that allow both clinicians and clients to thrive.
The mental health field has also changed rapidly in recent years. Navigating evolving legislation surrounding psychedelic services and the growing demand for accessible mental health care has required continual flexibility and learning.
Perhaps the greatest lesson has been recognizing that growth rarely happens in isolation. Building meaningful relationships, asking for help, and trusting an incredible team have been just as important as any professional training I’ve received.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Glow Collective Integrative Therapy?
Glow Collective Integrative Therapy is a mindfulness-based, trauma-informed group practice dedicated to helping people reconnect with themselves and cultivate lasting well-being. We offer individual therapy and relationship therapy, along with specialized services including trauma therapy, substance use treatment, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, psychedelic preparation and integration, sex therapy, and affirming care for LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
What sets Glow apart is our belief that therapy should meet the whole person—not just a diagnosis or a symptom. Our clinicians draw from a variety of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including somatic therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, mindfulness, and parts work/IFS, tailoring treatment to each person’s unique needs and goals.
I’m especially proud of the culture we’ve created. We intentionally built Glow to be a place where both clients and clinicians feel supported, valued, and able to show up authentically. We believe that meaningful healing happens through genuine human connection, and that philosophy guides everything we do.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that healing—and leadership—both begin with authenticity.
As therapists, it’s easy to feel pressure to have all the answers. As business owners, it’s easy to believe we need to do everything ourselves. Over time, I’ve learned that the most meaningful growth happens when we’re willing to stay curious, embrace uncertainty, and trust both ourselves and the people around us. People are not broken. —they’re often carrying experiences that deserve compassion rather than judgment. That perspective shapes not only how I work with clients, but how I lead my team and approach life as a whole.
