Inspiring Conversations with Sarah Rhodes of Studio Rhodes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rhodes.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a creative family where making things by hand was a way of life. My mother was always sewing curtains, decorating cakes, or painting the most extravagant wallpaper patterns by hand. That environment sparked my love for art and design from an early age.

I began my studies in fine art but soon realized I was drawn to a more functional form of creativity, interior design. I went on to earn my degree in Interior Architecture & Design, then packed my life into a Honda Civic and headed for the mountains to begin my career in Denver.

After gaining invaluable experience working for one of Denver’s top luxury residential firms, I moved to the UK to immerse myself in art, history, and architecture. It was there that I truly found my identity as a designer and developed a deep appreciation for color, pattern mixing, and timeless architectural details.

In 2024, I returned to Denver to open my own studio, Studio Rhodes. Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to work with inspiring clients who trust me to guide them out of their comfort zones and create spaces that reflect their individuality. My goal is always to design environments where people can thrive for years to come.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth, but I think that’s what makes the journey so meaningful. My move to Colorado happened shortly after my father passed away and my mother relocated to the UK. Starting over in a new city where I didn’t know anyone was daunting, but Denver welcomed me with open arms and quickly became home.

Then, in March 2020, I moved to the UK, just ten days before the world went into lockdown. Once again, I found myself starting over, this time confined to my home and unable to meet anyone in person. As challenging as that season was, it became an unexpected gift. It gave me time to focus inward, refine my skills, and start developing the systems and structure that would one day become the foundation of my own firm.

Since returning to Denver, I’ve faced a familiar challenge many creatives can relate to: imposter syndrome. But over time, I’ve learned to use that self-doubt as fuel. It’s pushed me to carve my own path with confidence and reminded me why I do what I do. To help clients feel supported, inspired, and empowered to create spaces that reflect who they are and what they value most.

As you know, we’re big fans of Studio Rhodes. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Studio Rhodes is a Denver-based interior design studio creating timeless, one-of-a-kind homes full of soul. We offer both full-service and virtual interior design, from complete home transformations to single-room redesigns. Every project begins with a conversation about how you live, what matters most, and how thoughtful design can support your lifestyle in ways you may not have considered.

Our work is rooted in creating artful spaces that blend contemporary living with old-world beauty. We don’t chase trends, we design with intention. Each project balances refinement with warmth, using natural materials, rich textures, and meaningful details that tell a story.

My background working in both Denver and London shaped the foundation of our aesthetic. The result is a design approach that feels international yet grounded, mixing historical references with modern sensibility. Every space we create is layered, lived-in, and deeply personal.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Studio Rhodes has become known for its authenticity. Our clients trust us not only to make their homes beautiful, but to put functionality at the forefront, to help them uncover their own style and create environments where they can truly thrive. Our work is guided by the belief that good design should feel intentional, effortless, and entirely unique to the people who live within it.

What does success mean to you?
If I can say that I’ve made a lasting, positive contribution to the built environment, creating spaces that continue to bring comfort and beauty to people long after I’m gone, that’s success. Knowing that my work becomes part of someone’s story and stands the test of time is the greatest reward.
