Inspiring Conversations with Shay Koloff of The Broom Circle Holistic Healing and Tea Room

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shay Koloff.

Hi Shay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a mom and wife, an Oklahoma Native originally residing in Colorado Springs! I moved here two years ago after two years of doing my business, along with my family to begin a new path a midst the pandemic. I began my path to herbalism after years of unsuccessful western medicine attempts. My passions grew as I started to garden, forage, and study herbalism methods of healing! I started my business Zenith Moon Co. in 2019 and we are a business of herbal and holistic healing. We offer herbal teas, lemonades, tonics, alcohol-free tinctures, oils, sprays, and etc. Our mission is to assist people with aiding in natural remedies for mental, physical, and spiritual health! We opened a brick and mortar store in Colorado Springs in 2022 called The Broom Circle Holistic Healing & Tea Room where we offer this experience.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had many challenges along this road. There have been many times that I had to stop and reevaluate my business. I have had to restart many times in new locations over the years and work hard to hand-make all my products by myself. There’s many other businesses in the area who are larger than I am but as the first black-owned apothecary and herbal tea room in Colorado Springs, I only expect to keep expanding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Broom Circle is a holistic herbal tea room and metaphysical store. We offer many products from handmade Florida water to handmade smudge sticks, incense, candles, tea diffusers, and In house herbal lemonade and herbal tea! We are known for our alcohol-free tinctures and herbal drinks that taste amazing. We are different from most because we are a small personal experience with knowledge to share and products that we pride in: we use and benefit from our remedies and always have personal recommendations! We are so proud of the quality and growth we have gained as a one-woman business! We want the readers to know that our company is not only dedicated to your healing but we are about the healing, not about the profit! The wealth is in our health! The Broom Circle also offers meditative art classes, astrology classes, events and more; our goal is to offer tools for all spiritual paths!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that I love to rollerskate! I have been an avid skater since I was a little kid and I’ve always enjoyed rinks and the vibe on a roller rink Sunday! My mom used to take me every Sunday when I was younger! Now that I’m a grown lady, I love to get creative with my skating! I’ve just learned in the last few years how to trail skate, outdoor jam, and street skate! I’m learning all kinds of fun things in my own time ☺️
