Inspiring Conversations with Skylar Allen of SkyHaven Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Allen.

Hi Skylar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
First, thank you for asking, and for reading about my journey!

My journey has been in motion for the last few years as I left home in Northern Virginia and hit the road for Colorado. At the time, I had never been to Colorado, nor did I even know anyone from here, it just felt right and was calling to me to be there. So much so, that I invested in some land down in the southern part of the state (about 40 minutes from the Sand Dunes National Park, in the San Luis Valley), site unseen (like a crazy person), and decided one day that I would be there. The next day, I decided was the day to go.
When I left my hometown, I had nothing but $5 and a dream! The dream wasn’t even fully developed yet, I just knew I wanted to continue my path as a healer and gain some experience in hands-on work with people. I landed in Arizona for a few months to stay with my sister and save some money while I figured out the rest of my plan for Colorado. I was offered a job for a franchise called Stretch Zone, as long as I could make it to the state by May 23rd, 2022 for training. This left me with days to figure out how things were going to come together, but I was so passionate about it, I was willing to sleep in my car if it meant I was living in Colorado and could land this job. Luckily, I was able to avoid car sleeping and found a place Friday May 20th, moved in Sunday night of the 22nd, and made it in time to start training on the 23rd!

Fast forward to present day, because of that job, I met the best group of friends I’ve ever had (my soul tribe), and met my now fiance! It also harvested a deeper interest in people’s health and wellness and all the pillars that support that, like physical health, mental health, emotional well-being and spirituality/faith/purpose. I realized that nothing filled my cup more than helping people feel better, in their body, in their mind, and in their heart. This led me to Reiki energy healing, where I became a level three Master Reiki energy healer through Moon Holistics. Most recently, as I was ready to leave bodywork, I thought about what was next for me on the path of being a healer. That thought brought me to life coaching, where I took a 6 month class through the IFCE (The Institute for Coaching Excellence) which would prepare me to become an accredited life coach (after 500 hours and an exam) through the ICF (International Coaching Federation). And now, here we are! SkyHaven Healing was brought into the world so I could have a dedicated safe space for helping people feel, and be their best self. So in essence, following my dreams as whimsically as ever, brought me to a place where I can now help others follow their dreams.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the challenges along the way have been overcoming financial hurdles, and remaining positive in the face of adversity when it comes to branding myself. There’s a lot of inner-work that goes into defeating the imposter syndrome, and understanding how to put a numerical value to yourself and your self-worth. Another difficult thing to navigate has been staying consistent in putting myself out there, both online, and in person in efforts to be seen. With putting yourself out there and actively exposing yourself to crowds, you’re subjecting yourself to judgement, so it’s been a real work of confidence, discipline, and faith to help me stay consistent in wanting to be seen – I know I am here on a mission to help people, and although walking the walk can be scary, that doesn’t stop me from doing it. Ever.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
SkyHaven Healing is built on the belief that everyone has the ability and the right to be their most authentic self, and to bring their “dream life” into reality. This is a designated safe space to support the journey of making that happen! I specialize in Life Coaching with focuses on Personal Empowerment, and Spirituality. I am also a Master Reiki Energy Healer and can help to remove any energetic blockages my clients may have. These services are independent of each other; however, they often do pair really well together in making progress for ones’ emotional/mental breakthroughs and making progress on their journey.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect with people in a way that evaporates any anxiety or fear and create a true sense of safety. This is so essential when choosing a healer or healing service – to have a place that allows healing to take place within people’s nervous system first. In addition to creating a healthy atmosphere for transformation to happen, I am able to offer a coaching mindset that allows people to take their journey to the next step – it is all about balancing having grace and holding space for healing, breakthroughs, ideas, motivation and inspiration to come through, and coaching a client to determine actionable steps to bring the dreams and the goals into reality, and holding them accountable for progress. So, in other words, if you’re working with me, you’re GOING to see your dreams come true!

I want people to know that all people are welcomed, just as they are, and that the impossible is possible with the right mindset, and the right support, and I am here to provide that for those who are seeking growth and want to become aligned with/live as their most authentic self. I also want people to know that I understand how hard times are financially, and although I do offer programs, I work on a sliding scale to match services & pricing in a way that remains accessible to people (and that is what I am most proud of, is remaining accessible to people, because this business is always going to be about helping people infinitely more than it is about money).

Any big plans?
My plans for the future are always evolving, but the biggest thing in sight right now is putting myself in areas to be seen, so that people know there is a person who cares, and a safe place that exists for them to navigate through the difficulties of life. I am working towards having a studio space for people to come to, but for now all life coaching appointments are virtual, and Reiki is done in the clients’ home.
