Julia Lyons of Longmont, CO on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Julia Lyons. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Julia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I’ve just reemerged from maternity leave after having my second child, so I’m reconfiguring what life looks like in a way that’s sustainable for me and my family at this point. My normal day consists of a balance between parenting and magic making. Getting ready for clients by picking plants in the garden with my infant, while sending my toddler off to school; nursing while drumming and making herbal spiritual baths; and it taking 10x the normal amount of time to answer an email while my toddler keeps calling me to her side- haha!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! My name is Julia Lyons. I am a spiritual advisor, guide & healing practitioner. I’ve spent the past decade+ deeply living on my spiritual path with the main focus of my journey taking place through Earth-based shamanic healing arts & ceremony.

I offer mentorship & healing work to support people to step into a life they truly want to live in. I’ll help you heal your wounds, shed the stories that keep you stuck, dream visions of the future, and weave them into reality. Melding the inner and outer work is the sweet spot in transforming YOU & your life! Our goal? Hooked you up with your own magic & power- never to be the same again!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
As a young child I was watching “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” and got inspired to do a love spell. I unfortunately don’t remember the specifics of what I did, but I remember feeling the power and magic coming alive within me in that moment… It was tangible and strong! I remember thinking “Uh oh… what was that?! What did I do! Was that okay?!” Intimidated by what I felt.

And you know what? That spell really f’in worked! At the age of 23 I met my now husband and soulmate. Timing is always in the mystery but I firmly believe that spell set forth an energy that aligned me with what has now come to fruition.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That I can choose to live and heal through ease.

I’ve been realizing in a strong way lately that there is a deep programming in so many of us that says that achievement, growth, healing, wealth (honestly, fill in the blank of the thing that feels hard to attain!) comes through suffering. That you have to suffer to deserve what you want. That you only did it right if you have a hard story to share afterwards. While I have definitely experienced the glory that awaits after accomplishing something hard, I have also realized how empowering it can be to orient in the other direction. Where softening so much around where life is trying to take you can be so much more powerful than trying to direct it yourself. You can’t bypass the harshness, pain and suffering, but at a point in your healing process you can hopefully realize the ways you were making it hard for yourself and orient in a different direction.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
Those that come from my connection to the Earth & Spirit. I feel weird using the phrase “rely on” for this because that’s not actually how I relate to it… but without the wisdom and connection that I experience coming through the Earth & Spirit, I wouldn’t know how to live in this world and I also wouldn’t know how to help people!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
While facilitating healing work with my clients, family and community! Creating ceremonial containers for healing, inquiry & growth inherently gets us into a potent flow state. As we move through these ritual spaces and step out of what we call “ordinary reality”, we experience deep presence, peace & connection. This is where I am at peace.
