Hi Katy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, my days are a mix of mom life and salon life. I work about three days a week, which gives me the space to be present with my daughter while still doing what I love.
On workdays, I’m creating dimensional color, connecting with clients, helping people feel their best, and staying sharp with ongoing education and content creation.
On my days off, I’m with my little family—my husband, baby girl, and our dog—getting outside in nature, staying grounded through yoga and self-care, and raising a wild child in beautiful Colorado. It’s a full life, but one that feels aligned and true to who I am.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Katy, the heart and hands behind Katy Hart Hair. I’ve been a stylist for almost 20 years, specializing in dimensional color, extensions, and low-maintenance, lived-in looks that help people feel confident and beautiful in their everyday life.
I have a real love for long layered cuts and working with fine hair — helping clients achieve movement, fullness, and shape in a way that feels effortless and customized. I’m also an extension specialist, and I love creating natural-looking transformations that enhance without overwhelming.
Right now, I work part-time in Denver while soaking up life as a new mom. On Instagram, I share educational content with tips on color, extension care, styling, and fine hair solutions. I’m passionate about teaching and connecting — whether it’s with clients in the salon or fellow stylists online.
For me, it’s about more than just hair. It’s about trust, transformation, and helping people feel like the best version of themselves!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds break when we stop listening, whether it’s in life or behind the chair. Assumptions replace curiosity, and connection fades.
But what restores them is the same everywhere: vulnerability, accountability, and showing up with heart.
In the salon and beyond, people just want to feel seen, heard, and safe. That’s where real trust and real transformation happens.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
I do and it changed everything. Being truly heard is rare, and when it happens, it sticks with you. That’s why I make it a priority to really listen to my clients. I don’t just ask what they want their hair to look like I pay attention to how they feel, what season of life they’re in, and what they’re not saying out loud.
Sometimes it’s about hair, but more often, it’s about being seen. Whether someone’s going through a big life shift, celebrating something, or just needing a moment for themselves being heard can be healing.
That’s what I try to create in my chair: a space where people feel understood, cared for, and never rushed. Because when you feel truly listened to, it changes the whole experience not just your hair, but your energy.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I don’t sugarcoat the life I’m living, because if you’re not being authentic, what’s the point? I’m human and have my off days like anyone else, but I’m a big believer in the power of positivity, manifestation, and speaking truth and love into your life. What you put out really does come back.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in nature, with the people I love, and in those quiet moments behind the chair when I truly connect with a client. There’s something grounding about finding common ground, making someone feel seen, and helping them feel beautiful inside and out.
