Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Adian of Colorado Springs

We recently had the chance to connect with Adian and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Adian, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
This is intresting because. I have an idea of what it should always look like but don’t always follow through.

But ideally, Thank God for the day, pray and drink water then a good stretch. Organize my thoughts via checking my to do list, calendar and whiteboard. Which helps keep everything together. Then of course get some food in me

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
So im a music artist. I go by Adian (pronounced like Add-in). Im a Christian hiphop/nerdcore rapper. What’s both intresting and special is not only have i attached my music to two very niche sub genres of hiphop. Those songs seem to resonate with people the most. I’ve been producing only a few years in comparison to rapping. But ive begun to create my own sound. People have noticed and thats special to me.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Tough. I’d say I had some underlying self hate, masked by overconfidence and elevation of myself. I thought highly of my self or told myself as much. My outlook is more grounded now but a healthy confidence

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It taught me where to get help from (Jesus) and how to navigate difficult situations in a healthy way. It taught my to appreciate times wherr suffering was not present. Adaptability, you pick up things and do things you didnt know or ever think you could do when you suffer. Like fight or flight, all of a sudden you’re faster, stronger or think quicker than you ever thought possible when danger is present.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Id say so. I want to be presentable within reason of course. But its very much me. I dress how I want. I say what I must and I speak in truth and love as im called to do. Im not trying to pretend for anyone, im not perfect and you don’t need me to say as much to know so. So why hide it

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
A little cliche sounding maybe. But when I let go and let God. Simple. Maybe you’ve heard it before. But letting Him truly have the worry, the event. Etc. Its freedom and peace
