We recently had the chance to connect with amanda harsche and have shared our conversation below.
amanda, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day is about me. I wake up early and hit the gym to decompress from the previous day. I then enjoy my morning coffee snuggling my dog and get to any emails or behind the scenes work that needs to be done before heading into the salon
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amanda Harsche. I have been a stylist for 13 years now and educator for about 10. I’m originally from North Dakota but also spent my summers in Vegas growing up.
I love educating and meeting new people from all parts of the world!
I’m almost 2 years sober and have a cute little rescue weiner dog that’s deaf, blind in one eye and has wonky back legs that is my pride and joy.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I got sober. I had to relearn how to do everything with a clear head and really started to see more empathy for others and myself. I had to learn how to be comfortable with myself and become accountable for my part in every story.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
This is one that hits home! These last few years I changed almost everything in my life and decided to start over! It’s scary being 41 years old and doing that but the suffering and failure taught me there is always more things to learn when you think you have learned it all in order to continue to grow.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I’m a firm believer on treating others the way you want to be treated. But also understanding that people have bad days and you never really know what is going on fully in someone’s life so Grace is good.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think they obviously would miss the hair lol. But most importantly the connection we have. I make a point to really pay attention when my guests talk to me and weirdly remember most details even if I haven’t seen them in a year. I care and want to know about their life, and get excited with them about their wins.
