We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bella O’Brien. Check out our conversation below.
Bella, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am walking a path, one that is mystical in nature. Sometimes it can feel like wandering- absolutely but I think that is normal when you are forging a new path and not taking one that is necessarily well travelled.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Bella (she/they), and I am mija of moon— a creative and oracular practice devoted to poetry, divination, and spiritual guidance.
My work weaves together the mystical and the material. I channel poetic messages on my vintage typewriter, offer intuitive and spirit-led tarot readings, and facilitate energetic healing sessions using Reiki, 13th Octave LaHoChi, and trance healing. Each of my offerings is a living dialogue between human and spirit, a collaborative dance with the land, the elements, and the unseen forces that hold us.
I approach this medicine with a decolonial lens and animist values. My intention is always to help others remember their own power and possibility and to soften into self-trust, clarity, and creative expansion. My work is about returning home to your self.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a brave, loud, expressive child— full of imagination, curiosity, and heart. I had strong boundaries, a sense of wonder, and a deep trust in my own voice. Somewhere around the 6th grade, self-doubt began to creep in. I learned to quiet parts of myself to try to fit into a world that didn’t always feel safe for sensitivity or magic or my unique voice.
It’s taken years of spiritual work, healing, and remembering to return to that early version of myself, the one who creates, feels deeply, and speaks truth without apology. The work I do now is, in many ways, an offering to that child. I know the power of the tools I share because they’ve helped me re-emerge in my full authenticity, and I love guiding others to do the same.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most has been the fear of being seen and, with that, the fear of rejection. For a long time, I believed I needed to earn my visibility, to gather enough proof, credentials, or validation to justify the intuitive, creative work I do.
But what I’ve learned is that my power doesn’t come from external recognition. It comes from trust and from showing up as I am, allowing myself to be witnessed, and letting my work speak through experience rather than explanation.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that I knew what was best. Not just for myself, but for others, for the world. I thought there was a single “right” way to do things. That belief, I’ve come to realize, was rooted in control, individualism, and in the colonial idea that there even is a “best” way.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Absolutely nothing. I live life deeply connected to my desire, to my heart, and to spirit.
