We recently had the chance to connect with Cynthia Moos and have shared our conversation below.
Cynthia, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Yesterday! My daughter and I walked home from school, it was one of those gorgeous fall day and I thought to myself: “how lucky am I that I get to be here and do this right now.”
Gratitude has become a daily practice in our household and it has helped me see even more beauty in my everyday. There can be so many small moments of joy in a day, we just need to be open to experiencing them,
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Bonjour! I’m Cynthia Moos, founder of Best French Forever, a brand born from my love for Provence and the need to slow down.
I was born and raised in the country region of Provence, surrounded by olive groves, lavender fields, and the simple joys of slow living.
When I moved to the U.S. in 2014, I embraced my new life wholeheartedly at first, but over time, I felt a growing disconnect from the pace and rhythm that had once felt so natural to me. I missed the balance, the beauty, the breathing space.
In 2017, I started Best French Forever as a small newsletter to reconnect with my roots and share the French art de vivre with others. What began as a passion project has since evolved into something much deeper: a lifestyle platform that helps women slow down and rediscover themselves through the spirit of Provence.
Today, I host women’s retreats in Provence where participants are invited to rest, create, and reconnect—with themselves, with other women, and with the beauty of everyday life.
I also run Le BFF Club, a Denver-based + online community for Francophiles who want to keep their connection to France alive all year long.
What makes Best French Forever unique is that it’s rooted in my own upbringing and the deep attachment to my land. I’m not just sharing Provence; I’m sharing my Provence. The one that shaped who I am, that taught me that true luxury is time, and that fulfillment comes not from doing more, but from doing what matters, with intention and heart.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my retreats and continuing to build spaces—both in Provence, in the Denver area and online—where women can experience the French art of living well.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Without hesitation, my dad! Growing up, I watched him spend over 13 years building our family home with his own two hands. A true labor of love and perseverance!
When he wasn’t working on the house, he was away on job sites as a pipe-fitter, dedicating himself fully to his craft. He taught me that real work isn’t just about earning a living; it’s about taking pride in what you create.
My dad didn’t need much, but everything he made—whether it was a sketch, a piece of furniture or a limestone wall—was done with care and precision.
Thanks to him, I learned that excellence comes from patience, dedication, and heart. His quiet determination continues to inspire how I build my own dreams today, and how I curate each retreat: with intention, care, and a deep respect for the process.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I think that moment came a few years after I moved to the U.S..
Like many immigrants, I wanted to fully immerse myself into the American culture, to earn my place, and to belong. I found a job in corporate America, in a 300-person office, and tried my best to fit in. While I met wonderful people and made lifelong friends there, I quickly started to feel like I was losing a part of myself. The pace, the expectations, the constant striving—it all left me feeling like I was never enough, no matter how hard I worked.
For someone who had always prided herself on doing things well, that realization was painful… But it was also the beginning of my awakening. I understood that the version of success I was chasing wasn’t my definition of success. So I began to create something that reflected who I truly was: a brand rooted in connection, beauty, and intentional living.
That’s how Best French Forever was born. What started as my way to reconnect with my roots and my culture became a way to help other women do the same—to slow down, to listen to themselves, and to rediscover who they truly are.
Turning my pain into purpose didn’t happen overnight, but it gave me a sense of freedom I hadn’t felt in years, and the courage to live and work in alignment with who I am.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
For a long time, I believed that success was something you were born with, that certain people just had “it” (a special talent or assertiveness that set them apart). I used to think that if you didn’t have those qualities from the start, you simply weren’t cut out for big things. Looking back, I see how this belief held me back.
What I’ve learned through my own journey is that success isn’t innate—it’s built. Every day we get to live gives us a chance to evolve, to learn, to grow into the people we aspire to be.
Mindset plays such a powerful role in that transformation. And most importantly, I’ve realized that no one ever does it alone! The people we surround ourselves with (mentors, friends, community) are what makes the difference.
We may not start with all the tools or confidence we need, but with time, consistent effort, and the right support, we can build anything. That mindset shift has completely changed how I approach both my work and my life.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will say that I added more beauty in the everyday. Not just the kind of beauty you can see, but the quiet, soul-nourishing kind that makes life feel more meaningful.
Whether they joined me on a Provence retreat or met me stateside, I hope they’ll remember me as someone who helped them pause, notice, and appreciate what was already there: the simple joys, the little details, the moments of connection that make life rich.
If my legacy is that I helped even a few people see the world, and themselves, through a softer, more beautiful lens… then I would have accomplished my life mission!
