Heather Glenn shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Heather, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
This summer was a really proud moment for me. I launched a new group program designed to help women rebalance their blood sugar and metabolism. I’ve been dreaming about creating something like this for years. Group work is so powerful, and I wanted to build a program that gave women the best of both worlds: personalized coaching tailored to their unique needs, and the encouragement that comes from walking the journey alongside other women who get it.

Within just a few weeks, I started hearing stories from the group that made me smile from ear to ear…more energy, better sleep, fewer digestive struggles, and even clothes fitting more comfortably. But what touched me most was watching the women lift each other up, celebrate wins, and share their gratitude for having both community and guidance.

Bringing women together around health has been at the heart of my work for over two decades, first with my women’s fitness boot camps, and now with my group nutrition and wellness programs. This program feels like the natural next step in that mission, and seeing it come to life has been deeply fulfilling.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My journey into functional nutrition started long before I ever thought of making it a career. It began with my own health struggles. For years, I dealt with symptoms that made everyday life feel hard: digestive issues, brain fog, mood swings, low energy, and relentless bloating that left me uncomfortable in my body all day. My health struggles were preventing me from being present for my family, being focused at work, and enjoying my social life.

What made it even harder was not having answers. I knew something was off, but the support and solutions I needed just weren’t there. That frustration fueled my determination to figure it out for myself. I immersed myself in learning, everything from functional nutrition courses to advanced training in digestive health, detoxification, metabolic health, and functional lab testing. Along the way, I became a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. But more importantly, I began to heal.

That experience changed everything. I realized my struggles weren’t just a detour. They were preparing me for my life’s work. Now, I help women who feel the same way I once did: tired of being dismissed, confused by their symptoms, and desperate to feel like themselves again. My role is part guide, part cheerleader. I help uncover the root causes of their symptoms and walk with them as they rebuild their health and confidence.

At the heart of it all is this belief: no woman should have to settle for feeling unwell or unheard. I know what it’s like to be there, and I know it’s possible to come out the other side feeling vibrant, clear, and strong.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memories of feeling powerful take me back to PE class. I can still remember the thrill of climbing the rope, doing chin-ups, learning a back handspring, or running in a relay race or obstacle course. There was something about moving my body that lit me up and made me feel strong, capable, and unstoppable.

That feeling of power through movement stayed with me and eventually led me into a career in fitness. For years, I taught women how to tap into that same strength within themselves, because I knew firsthand how empowering it could be. Fitness became my foundation, not just for physical strength, but for confidence and resilience. It’s what helped me navigate life’s challenges and gave me an anchor when things felt hard.

To this day, I live by the saying, “When in doubt, workout.” Moving my body has always been my reset button, my sanity, and my reminder that I’m stronger than I think.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the deepest wounds in my life was losing my mother to cancer, right around the time my first son was born. Her journey with cancer began when I was just sixteen, and I watched her go through it not once, but twice over the course of 17 years. She fought with everything she had, but what struck me most was how little true support and few healing solutions she was offered.

Losing her so young shook me to my core and left me with less faith in our healthcare system. At the same time, it lit a fire in me, a determination to take better care of my own body through exercise, nutrition, and eventually holistic healing practices. Her loss became a turning point, pushing me to seek answers outside of conventional paths and to explore functional and integrative approaches that actually look at the root cause of illness.

In many ways, helping other women reclaim their health has been my way of healing from her loss. It feels like honoring her memory, making sure fewer women have to go through what she went through. Every time I see a client find relief, regain their energy, or feel hope again, it’s like a small piece of her story is being rewritten.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the nutrition world is that there’s a single “right” way of eating that works for everyone. Diet culture loves to divide foods into “good” and “bad” lists, but the truth is, no one approach fits every body.

So many of my clients come to me feeling confused and frustrated. They’ve tried to follow the latest diet trends, but one expert says a certain food is healthy while another says to avoid it. That back-and-forth leaves them second-guessing themselves and disconnected from what really matters… how food makes them feel.

I believe the most powerful shift is learning to reconnect with your body. Instead of relying only on outside voices, it’s about tuning in and noticing which foods support your energy, digestion, and mood, and which ones don’t. When women begin to trust that inner feedback again, it’s incredibly freeing, and that’s when real healing and confidence around food can happen.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will tell the story of how I made them feel truly seen and valued. My deepest wish is that the women in my life (as well as family, friends, colleagues) will say I empowered them to take charge of their health and, in doing so, gave them the freedom to pursue their dreams and goals with confidence.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about improving digestion or balancing blood sugar, it’s about helping women feel strong, clear, and capable enough to live the lives they’ve always wanted. If my story is that I helped women believe in themselves, prioritize their well-being, and step fully into the life they deserve, that would mean everything to me.
