Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Karen Conrad Metcalfe of Greenwood Village

Karen Conrad Metcalfe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Karen, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
WealthBuilders was founded by Billy and Becky Epperhart in response to a growing need they saw within the Body of Christ—helping people not only understand that God wants them to prosper, but also learn how to prosper. Far too often, believers are taught about the promise of financial blessing without being given the practical tools to walk it out. At WealthBuilders, we believe prosperity is not something that simply falls from the sky like ripe fruit. Instead, it is cultivated through a partnership between spiritual maturity, faith in God’s promises, and the diligent application of wisdom and knowledge.

Our mission is clear: “Making Sense of Making Money for Making a Difference.” This means we don’t just teach people how to build wealth—we show them how to do it with purpose. Whether you’re building a business, investing in real estate, managing your finances, or stepping into entrepreneurship for the first time, we offer a clear and biblically grounded roadmap to help you succeed.

What sets WealthBuilders apart is that all of our coaches and teachers are what we call “in the game.” They are not just talking theory—they are living it. Every person who teaches or coaches on our platform is actively involved in the area they specialize in, whether it’s real estate, business, or investment. This ensures that the training and guidance we offer is not only biblical, but relevant, tested, and immediately applicable.

One of the greatest misconceptions we see is the belief that if you love God and pray, prosperity will automatically follow. But financial increase requires more —it requires growth. It demands that you renew your mind with God’s Word, take personal responsibility, invest in learning, and be willing to walk through the process with endurance. At WealthBuilders, we come alongside you with teaching, coaching, resources, and a community that helps you stay on track during the ups and downs of your journey.

Ultimately, we exist to help Kingdom-minded individuals create wealth that makes a difference—not just in their own lives, but in their families, communities, and the world. If you’re ready to align your finances with your faith, and your vision with God’s Kingdom purpose, WealthBuilders is here to equip you every step of the way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As the Vice President of WealthBuilders, it’s an incredible blessing to help run the organization under the leadership of Billy and Becky Epperhart. Their mentorship has deeply shaped my own journey in building wealth, and the impact has extended to our entire family. What started as personal growth has now become a shared mission to help others step into the same transformation.

WealthBuilders is filled with stories like ours—people who knew they were called into business or real estate but didn’t know how to connect that calling with their walk with God. Too often, those two areas are treated as separate. WealthBuilders brings them together. We help people discover that their marketplace calling is not only spiritual, but essential for Kingdom impact. When faith and financial purpose unite, it unlocks a whole new level of boldness, understanding, and action.

Every coach and teacher on our platform has been personally and powerfully impacted by Billy and Becky. It’s why they pour back into WealthBuilders with such passion—it’s a labor of love, a multiplication of the legacy they’ve received.

One of the key ways we share this message each week is through the WealthBuilders Podcast, which I have the privilege of hosting. It’s a place where faith meets finance, strategy meets calling, and people are equipped to walk in the full measure of what God has called them to do in business, real estate, and investing.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The biggest thing I’ve seen that breaks the bonds between people is offense. More often than not, offense is rooted in an assumption or a misunderstanding. Yet instead of seeking clarity, people cling to their own opinions, and offense takes root. This is a strategy of the enemy—to divide, distract, and ultimately derail people from their destiny by destroying the very relationships God intended to bless them.

What restores those broken relationships is humility. Humility to go to the other person, to seek understanding, and to have the courage to not need to be “right.” It’s the willingness to set aside our opinions in pursuit of the truth, and in doing so, we invite God back into the relationship.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think everyone hits points in life where they’re tempted to give up. I know I’ve faced that temptation multiple times throughout my career, and I believe that’s something we all experience at some point.

That feeling usually shows up in one of two ways: either something goes wrong that feels too difficult to walk through, or the thing we’ve been working so hard on hits a rough patch and suddenly doesn’t feel successful anymore. Those are the moments when we must refocus on our vision—to remember what God has called us to do. When we do that, we’re reminded that our success isn’t just about us—it’s about fulfilling the call of God on our life.

But there’s another side to this: sometimes, we’re tempted to give up because we’ve stayed in a season too long. Maybe we’ve grown comfortable, but deep down we know God is actually calling us into something new. In those moments, I ask myself a clarifying question:

“Am I wanting to quit because the situation is painful but I’m still called to work through it, or has my season truly ended and I’m just uncomfortable because I’ve stayed too long?”

That one question can shift everything—because it brings clarity, either to persevere with purpose or to release with faith and step into the next season God has prepared.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is definitely the real me—and that’s been a journey.

It hasn’t always been easy. Me being me isn’t always what people want or expect. But over time, I’ve learned that I’m okay with who I am and how God made me. That’s been a big shift. I’ve made the decision to be myself—even if it doesn’t always please everyone. Because if I’m putting on a show, how can I be authentic? I can’t. And I don’t want to live from a place of performance.

This is a journey I think we all walk through. I’m not perfect, and I’m still growing—but I know God loves me. And the people who truly matter in my life? They love me for who I am. There’s something incredibly freeing about settling into that decision. No pretending. No striving. Just being who God created me to be—and letting that be enough.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I find the most peace when I’ve spent time in the presence of the Lord. It’s in those quiet moments—praying, reading His Word, or simply being still—that I’m reminded of His promises. No matter what’s happening around me, His truth brings the stability and confidence I need to keep going. Saying “yes” to God’s calling doesn’t always mean the path will be easy, but it does mean I never walk it alone.

I also feel peace when I’m with my family and friends—those I love and who love me. Whether we’re sharing a meal or just doing life together, those relationships refresh me and remind me of God’s goodness. Peace isn’t the absence of challenges—it’s the presence of God and the gift of community that strengthens us through them.
