Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Krysta Klinzmann of South Dakota

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Krysta Klinzmann . Check out our conversation below.

Krysta, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of the latest adventure my husband and I are taking on. We are fixing up an old 1920s farm in the southern black hills. This gives us the opportunity to expand on our hobby farm and take time to “smell the roses.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Krysta Klinzmann, I’ve been a cosmetologist for 16 years. I specialize in blondes, balayage and bridal work.
I spent many years in northern Colorado and the last 4.5 years in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I enjoy bringing up to date ,high quality services to rural areas. Big city style with small town service is what I’m all about! Just because we might live in the boonies doesn’t mean we can’t look good doing it! I enjoy connecting with people of all walks of life. I haven’t found a client I haven’t been able to connect with yet. I thrive on word of mouth and I think that’s how I’ve lucked out with so many amazing clients throughout the years.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
This is a complex question to answer. I think the first time I truly felt like the world was trying to tell me to be something that I questioned was during covid.

That significantly impacted reasoning to relocate from Colorado to SD. That was the time in life that slowed us all down from the hustle to question what are we all doing with our lives. It’s so easy to stay in a programmed world. With that being said I’m on a soul mission to go back to our roots. To see who I am as a person. Ground myself with land, animals and my family. I think that’s a bit of life’s journey trying to figure out who we truly are. Coming into our full potential of who God created us to be.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely! How many times do we all feel like we can’t make it? And then you get through those situations in life and look back and think wow I cant believe it. Growth doesn’t come from comfort.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to give my clients the best version of me, but many of them have seen real, raw me….. you can’t help but when you get to know each other so well to not develop connection to be able to share about your life. That comes with all versions. I always take into consideration someone is paying for a service and ultimately that needs to be accomplished with consistency every time.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I would say that every single person is broken to a certain extent. I think if many of us would admit our own faults instead of spending so much time trying to correct others we as a society might be able to gain some morality back.
