We recently had the chance to connect with Mari Mocha and have shared our conversation below.
Mari , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
During my very first solo art exhibition “Marked for Greatness”. Not only was I surrounded by my own art and my own energy… but I got to see hundreds of people come in and interact with my work and seeing how infectious the energy in the room was made me feel so seen and felt and appreciated. People came out to celebrate me and my creations and I felt the most happy I ever felt in my life. I absolutely felt deserving and extremely proud to see all of my hard work in one place for everyone to see.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mari Mocha and I am a creative of many disciplines. My art is a dialogue between the self, the land, and the unseen. I see the nature of everything as a living archive, holding stories, energies, and histories that I channel into my work. Whether painting, sewing, or composing music, my practice is an act of preservation and reinvention, using creativity to reconnect people to the environment and themselves. As someone deeply attuned to spiritual and ancestral energies, I believe art can be a catalyst for healing and social change. Through immersive storytelling and tactile exploration, I aim to cultivate spaces where people—especially those historically excluded—can see themselves reflected in the beauty and power of the natural world.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
When I was about six or seven, I taught my older sister who was ten at the time how to ride a two-wheeler bike. In that moment, I felt a real sense of power and importance because I was able to share something I knew with someone I deeply admired. That experience taught me early on that teaching and learning have no age limit. You do not need a title or certification to share knowledge, and true leadership can come from simply guiding and supporting others.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I would always seek out my sister. We would talk, watch a movie or just make jokes together. I always knew that no matter what I was going through she would understand, sympathize or make me laugh. With my sister by my side I had no fear.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
My only regret would be not starting sooner. Time is the most valuable resource we have, and it is the one thing we cannot get back. I am grateful for the way my life has unfolded, but looking back, I realize that many of the ideas and visions I carried could have been further along if I had acted on them right away instead of waiting for the “right time” or for approval that was never really needed. What I have learned is the importance of starting now, taking action, and staying committed to my goals and divine dreams.
