Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Rev. Marcus Brown

Rev. Marcus Brown shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me looks like waking up, hitting the gym, coming home to start my day strategizing for the multiple social media platforms I manage as well as my own. I then take time to myself to get ready to do Intuitive Readings for the Public of Longmont at Magic Fairy Candles downtown and A.L.F Energy sessions and 1:1 at Kōena Integrative Medicine located in Longmont as well.

After a long day of being of service, I come home and prepare for the next day while creating as the sparks fly.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marcus Brown, also known as Metaphysical Marc. I’m a spiritual guide, healer, and transformational coach who helps people shift emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. My work is deeply rooted in my own journey of overcoming trauma, foster care, and homelessness, and finding purpose through healing.

I created Metaphysical Marc to be a space where real-life experience meets deep metaphysical insight. Through one-on-one coaching, intuitive guidance, and my unique energy work called A.L.F. (Angelic Light Frequency), I support people in breaking cycles, reconnecting with their inner power, and stepping into their truth.

Right now, I’m focused on sharing my book Struggle to Shift: A Journey of Resilience and Transformation, hosting healing experiences, and continuing to walk with clients as they awaken to their highest potential. This brand is built on truth, light, and transformation — and I’m honored to serve others through it.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who to be, I was a deeply intuitive, sensitive, and curious soul. I was the kid who felt everything, who picked up on energy before anyone spoke, and who found peace in nature and quiet moments when the world felt overwhelming. I didn’t have the language for it back then, but I was already connected to something greater, something sacred within myself.

As I grew up, the world tried to shape me into someone I wasn’t. It told me to toughen up, hide my feelings, and disconnect from my truth. But underneath all of that, I was always meant to be a healer. I was born to feel deeply, to guide others through their pain, and to speak from a place of truth and love.

Now, through Metaphysical Marc, I help others reconnect with who they were before the world told them to be someone else. I hold space for that remembering, and it’s the most powerful work I know how to do.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there were several moments where I almost gave up. One of the hardest was after I lost my full-ride football scholarship. I had worked so hard to get out of survival mode, to create a future for myself, and in one moment it felt like everything was slipping away. I turned to cannabis as a way to cope with pain I hadn’t yet faced, and when that led to losing the opportunity I had fought for, I felt like I had failed completely.

There was a deep period of questioning — who was I without football, without the structure, without the validation? I was hurting, and the weight of my past traumas started crashing down. It would have been easy to disappear into that pain and stay there. But something inside of me wouldn’t let go. There was a quiet voice, a deep knowing that this wasn’t the end of my story.

That moment became a turning point. I realized that what I was really being called to do was heal. Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. And from that healing came my purpose. Giving up would have meant turning my back on the people I was meant to help, and more importantly, on the version of myself I was becoming.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is absolutely real, it’s just the version of me that has done the inner work. What people see now is the result of years of healing, facing my shadows, breaking generational patterns, and choosing growth even when it was uncomfortable. I don’t hide the parts of my story that are messy or painful, because they’re part of what shaped me into who I am.

At the same time, I’m still human. I still have to check in with myself, stay grounded, and keep evolving. The difference now is that I walk in alignment with my truth, both publicly and privately. What you see through Metaphysical Marc is not a character or a performance just a reflection of the real me, showing up with purpose, honesty, and heart.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think some people might misunderstand my legacy as just being about spirituality or healing on the surface. They might see the titles, the brand, the energy work, and think it’s only about metaphysics or coaching. But the deeper truth is that my legacy is about survival, transformation, and breaking cycles that were meant to keep people stuck. It’s about showing others what’s possible when you choose to rise, even after life has tried to break you.

People may also assume that my strength came easy, or that I always had clarity. They might not see the years of pain, the isolation, the work it took to heal the little boy inside me who never felt safe. My legacy isn’t built on perfection. It’s built on persistence, truth, and the willingness to face myself again and again.

At its core, my legacy is about helping others remember who they really are. Not who the world told them to be, but who they were before the trauma, before the conditioning, before the pain. That’s the part some may overlook, but it’s the soul of everything I do.
