Sasha Zeilig shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
There are two things that I think are often misunderstood in my business:
1. If people understand that I am a transformational life coach, they think working with me is going to be expensive and hard… when in fact, my prices are reasonable, and playing on our problems can be fun!
2. If people understand that I am a play coach, they think working with me might be frivolous and not actually provide the transformation they desire… when in fact, play is the fastest way to rewire the human brain, and imagination is our greatest tool.
Let me dispel the greatest lie we’ve ever been fed. They told us that our imagination is pretend… when in fact, play is how we learned everything we know as kids (but without the fear of failure). It’s also the fastest, easiest and most effective way to rewire our neural pathways. It’s been scientifically proven that our brains don’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined. Plus, every man-made invention started as a concept of the mind. So why not use our most powerful tool, the imagination, to our benefit?
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meow! My name is Sasha Zeilig and I am a transformational Play Coach. I chose the name Come Play Heal for my business because first, it takes showing up; second, doing the work doesn’t have to be hard, transformation can be fun; and third, our mission is to heal the collective programming which has caused trauma for generations.
With this past complete and in the past where it belongs, we can create a whole new future for ourselves, our children, and the future of humanity.
I specialize in one-on-one coaching as well as unique community events where people playfully connect in true authenticity.
As a former Landmark Worldwide Staff Member, certified Thetahealer, and ordained Priestess, in my private coaching I combine drama-therapy, parts-work, and Internal Family Systems with reiki, intuitive somatic healing, unconscious beliefs, and subtle energy to explore the body, mind, and spirit as a whole in my original Self Discovery Dive method.
Purple Circle, a Sex-Ed and relationship curriculum and group discussion circle for adults, is the perfect place to deprogram yourself from religious and societal norms so that you can truly create the relationship of your dreams.
And if you’re the adventurous type, you can either play my game called Honest and Brave, or attend my annual pilgrimage to the Love Goddess Lineage in Greece!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
When I was a small child, I wanted to be President (of the United States or the World?).
My name, Sasha, is the nickname for Alexander in Russian. Alexander, meaning “protector of the people.”
When I was in my early 20’s, on a sacred trip with friends, I discovered that I was the “sheriff” of the group.
As facilitator of Ecstatic Dance, I learned that to keep everyone safe, I only had to keep my eye on the one rotten egg.
In all my work/play, and in all the sacred spaces that I hold, safety and judgelessness are top priorities.
However, there have been a few times in my life when I compromised who I was and who I am meant to be, handing over my innate power to romantic partners, giving up my values and integrity to fit into some Disney Princess Box… which never panned out. I have never felt more lonely than when I let a relationship take over my life.
Thankfully, when all hope was lost… and I was praying that the net would appear if I jumped, my inner voice came ringing through, “you don’t need a net, you have wings!”
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To my inner child, little Sashi, I would say thank you for keeping your innocence and helping me find fun, wonder and joy in each moment of every day, even when the world is bleak around me.
To my teenage self, I would say thank you for protecting me!
When I was in 6th grade, at 12 years old, I was sexually assaulted by a 7th grade boy. It happened at my house in my bedroom, even with girlfriends downstairs. The next day, he told everyone at school that I had let him do it. I didn’t even know what was happening, let alone know to say no. The next weekend, some kids from school toilet papered my house and tagged S L U T across our front porch in shaving cream. Even though I frantically wiped it off, somehow it stained the concrete, and every time it rained or got wet from the sprinklers, those hateful letters would reappear. I crossed that threshold for years before my wonderful step-dad cleaned it off for good while I was away at college.
But to reclaim some sense of power I felt I’d lost, I used that new title as a shield… since I was already labelled that, why not become one? On the positive side, I was empowered sexually, and could do whatever I wanted. However, on the negative side, this led to me equate sex with love for years. It took a lot of transformational play, work, and coaching to finally lay my inner Slut/Protectress to rest, and realize that I was safe to be valued as more than just a sexual being. I finally understood that in addition to being hot, I am incredibly creative, brave, smart, funny, fun, and profoundly wise. I now allow myself to be honored as the full sacred being that I am.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
This may be controversial, and it’s certainly not their fault, it’s the societal programming at work here, but… I would say that smart people are getting it totally wrong today by being overly-serious, overachieving perfectionists who spend the majority of their time being told what to do in jobs they hate!
Forget trying to be perfect or fit into someone else’s box. Stop putting happiness off for someday. And go that fun, joy, and fulfillment now!
It’s not worth the wait. Life is short. Live today. (Which is not the same thing as “live for today.”) I’m not saying throw your responsibilities away or don’t be accountable to those you love. I am just saying, if you’re miserable for money, you may want to reevaluate what’s important to you. Stop taking everything so seriously. How can you find the fun in your daily life?
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that someday people will speak stories of a mad-woman whose purple church changed lives with love, goddess empowerment, and respect that created a new realm of possibility for the people of earth in which to thrive called Goddessville! Or if not that one, then the first female president who instituted a matriarchal, egalitarian society where earth and her people were protected, cared for, and had everything they needed to joyfully flourish together in peace and harmony.
