Shawna Henderson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Shawna , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
People are secretly struggling with feeling unsupported and overwhelmed, even when everything looks “handled” on the surface. In events, clients, vendors, and even planners often feel pressure to appear confident, organized, and in control—so they hesitate to ask questions, admit uncertainty, or voice concerns. Strong connections matter because trust and open communication ease these hidden struggles, allowing people to feel heard, guided, and confident throughout the event planning process.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At Majestic Mountain Events, I create elevated, meaningful celebrations by blending thoughtful design with seamless planning and execution. My work goes far beyond logistics—I focus on building genuine connections with each client, truly listening to their vision, and making sure they feel heard, supported, and deeply cared for throughout the entire process. What makes the brand special is the heart behind it: every event is approached with intention, creativity, and a commitment to creating an experience where clients don’t just feel organized—they feel understood, valued, and loved.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Human bonds are strongest when people feel aligned, hopeful, and deeply connected—much like couples at the moment they decide to get married, standing on top of the world and certain that nothing can shake their relationship. Over time, however, bonds are often weakened not by a single dramatic event, but by the slow erosion of trust and unmet or unspoken expectations. When communication fades, assumptions replace conversations, and expectations go unmanaged, distance quietly grows. What restores these bonds is a commitment to look deep inside yourself and see what you can do to be a better version of yourself. Creating space for trust to be rebuilt and expectations to be clearly shared. In both relationships and life, connection thrives when people feel seen, heard, and understood.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this: take more risks and trust yourself. I was always willing to push boundaries through sports, travel, and athletics, but I would remind my younger self to keep taking meaningful risks in every area of life. Life is short, and our time here is meant to be fully experienced so we can grow into the best versions of ourselves. Stepping outside your comfort zone teaches you extraordinary things about who you are and what you’re capable of. Above all, I would emphasize faith—faith that everything will work out, that you’ll meet the right people along the way, and that what you truly desire will find its way to you.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Intelligence alone does not guarantee success—you can be incredibly smart and still feel stuck. What many highly intelligent people get wrong is underestimating the power of mindset. Knowledge without belief creates hesitation, self-doubt, and overthinking. To truly succeed, you must believe in your own value and trust that you belong at the top of your industry. That confidence shapes how you make decisions, take risks, communicate your expertise, and show up for opportunities. Sometimes known as the “imposter syndrome”, but you can break free by continuing to grow and learn. When you pair intelligence with a strong, grounded mindset—one rooted in self-belief, resilience, and action—you unlock the ability to turn potential into lasting success.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I believe that long after I am gone, others will carry forward the stories of how I showed up in their lives. In this lifetime, we are meant to touch people in ways that inspire them to become the best versions of themselves, often through moments that feel small at the time but leave a lasting imprint. More than accomplishments or titles, I hope what endures are the feelings—feeling heard, supported, encouraged, and valued. If people remember how I made them feel seen and uplifted, then I know I will have lived with purpose.
