Life & Work with Amber Quann

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Amber Quann again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Amber, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
Hi there!

I’m Amber Quann, Founder & CEO of Summit Dog Training in Fort Collins, Colorado.

My team and I help dogs and their humans live their best lives together through relationship and reinforcement-based dog training support.

We offer group classes and private lessons in Fort Collins, as well as virtual support around the country, with an emphasis on getting people and their dogs out doing fun things together!

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
This year has been a whirlwind of changes. In April, we purchased a property just under an acre in Fort Collins and moved Summit Dog Training to this new facility!

We love the new space and it’s going to help us to continue to offer great support to our students. Now we have safe outdoor areas for training as well as bigger indoor spaces so that we can continue to grow our classes and Adventure Camp services.

The last six months have been filled with construction and moving projects, and we are just now feeling like we are settled in and ready to focus on the next stages of our business development. We have lots of fun ideas and projects coming in 2025!

We have now arrived at one of our favorite parts of the interview – the lightning round. We’ll ask you a few quick questions to give us all some fun insights about you.

  • Favorite Movie: I have recently really enjoyed Woman of the Hour with Anna Kendrick
  • Favorite Book: I have recently enjoyed the Marvelous Light trilogy by Freya Marske!
  • Favorite Band or Artist: Currently listening to a lot of CMAT & a classical music playlist called “Classical Bangers”
  • Sweet or Savory: Savory
  • Mountains or Beach: Mountains
  • Favorite Sport (to play): I train in Muay Thai Kickboxing and love it!
  • As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up: Not surprisingly, a dog trainer. Living the dream here apparently.
  • French Fries or Onion Rings: Onion Rings with ample condiments to choose from
  • Favorite Childhood movie: Eight Below

What are you most excited about in the coming year?
I am excited about shifting my focus out of facility construction and moving mode into other projects that have taken the back burner this year. We have some ideas for curriculum and program updates that I’m excited to explore! Additionally, I’ll be presenting for the first time at ClickerExpo in March – this is a national dog training conference, and I’m so excited to be included on the speaker roster for 2025.

We are looking forward to seeing what a year in our new facility looks like and what additional opportunities we can pursue now that we have set up and settled into the space.
