Life & Work with Casey Lott of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Lott.

Hi Casey , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I decided when I was 18 years old to be a professional makeup artist and work in the beauty industry. As I sat in a circle of girls that all announced what college they would be attending I boldly stated I was going to be a makeup artist in Los Angeles. I could see the shock of their faces and the reaction of how unrealistic that idea was to them. Duncanville Tx was a long way away from home.

A few years went by from High school graduation and I did secure makeup artist jobs at my local Dillards and Macys with the new MAC cosmetics and was very competitive to join the team. This however was just not going to cut it. I needed to make the leap with my 400$ in pocket and my dodge neon, with no air conditioner, I set out to Las Vegas. It was my first landing spot from Texas. It was as close to California as I could manage. I lived with a friend and I went back to cosmetic sales and artistry grasping every opportunity to freelance and then I was offered a cosmetic job with Versace cosmetics in Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills! At last my opportunity had come for my Los Angeles adventure.

For the next ten years I traveled back and forth from Los Angeles and Las Vegas securing Hair and makeup opportunitys with Bellagio, Palms and Golden Nugget. While back in LA working cosmetic jobs and hustling to get steady freelance. No one paid on time and Ramen became my friend. I then took my esthetics license to a celebrity salon Juan Juan Salon in LA and landed the best career launch. I created the makeup and lash extensions business and worked private sector and soon left the salon and had a full career on my own. Jessica Capshaw and many others were a joy and an eyeopening experience. During that time I had also obtained and Hair and makeup and body painting agent by Campbell Agency in Dallas Texas for exhilarating on set experiences with Fox network. The afterparties were fun too!

As I began to obtain all my goals I had from my youth I knew I needed to set some new sites for myself as I was only 32. So I decided to sell my business I built to a Plastic surgeon who owned a med spa at the hight of my career and I moved to Sweden to regroup. I needed much rest after that solid decade of hustle.

I took a year break of no work and just travel and It was challenging to be so confused about my next steps. I then had a dream that I was in Colorado and very happy and fulfilled. One problem, I had never even been to Colorado. I did follow the lead of that dream and moved back into the states. About that time permanent makeup had just hit the market with incredible natural techniques. I took every class there was to offer and opened my own shop for the first time my clients were coming to me instead of me to them.

This beauty career has made all my dreams come true. It keeps evolving and its still exciting to see my clients face after the artwork of permanent makeup or skincare that helped solve a problem or lashes for a wedding.

I still have private sector clients and travel to Los Angeles and Dallas however my shop in Denver is my home!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I opened my first brick and mortar shop and 2 months later covid hit. Im still not sure how I kept it up and running.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At heart I am an artist. I am a painter and sell my large works on the side and will have art shows every once in a while. Providing art is fascinating to a client be it a painting or permanent makeup, brow lamination or lashes .

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I would like to continue to add more spa experiences and I now am hiring staff and training others with the artists knowledge I have obtained
