Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Bradford.
Hi Cheyenne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After years of paying photographers to capture my family and being let down the majority of the time, I picked up a camera. For a while, it was just for fun and just to capture photos of my kids. But after about a year of owning my camera, I felt a push from God to turn it into a business. So that is exactly what I did. I started shooting couples for free and then for $100 and then for $25o and so on and so on.
Every bit of money I made I invested back into my business. My thought process was “If I’m doing this, we’re going all the way.” So I just began investing in marketing classes and watching endless amounts of videos and podcasts. All of that and a lot of trial and error have gotten me to where I am today!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a HARD road but it hasn’t been smooth. There are so many things that come with owning a business that I had no idea about. Monetarily – Permit fees, editing software, culling software, gear, subscriptions, insurance, etc.
Emotionally/mentally – judging myself against photographers that have been in the business for years (I still struggle with this), time away from my kids plus the hours and hours of editing gives me a tremendous amount of mom guilt, people ghost you all the time after sending prices and some clients never respond after you send their gallery.. that can make you beat yourself up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a couples photographer, meaning I specialize in couples, weddings, and elopements! I am most proud of how fast I have figured out my brand and my style. What sets me apart is my eye for detail.
I love a good portrait of everyone smiling but what makes my heart burst is feeling real emotion through an image. To portray that emotion through an image you have to have a photographer who can prompt those feelings out of you and that is just what I do!!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I am so blessed to be able to call this my “job”.
Sometimes I feel like I have to pinch myself because the views I get to experience and the amazing couples I meet feel like a literal dream! I am just so thankful this is my passion!!
