Life & Work with Christian Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Garcia.

Christian Garcia

Hi Christian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve been singing and dancing along to Juan Gabriel’s live performances since I can remember. It’s my earliest memory and my family’s earliest memory of me. I’ve been chasing after that feeling of freedom and innocence ever since.

I enrolled in a music/audio technology class in college and that’s when I began the study of music. My final project was 3 songs I fully wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered which led to the foundation of my music. From there, I continued creating on my own on GarageBand, experimenting with different sounds and drum loops.

After 3 self-made EPs, I knew I had to enlist help and perform live to take my music to the next level. With the support of The Spot Studios, I created The Purpose of Life is To Feel, in around a year. I wrote and demoed the songs while they finished the production, recorded, mixed, and mastered the songs with my guidance.

The Purpose of Life is To Feel is a roller coaster ride of emotions describing my purpose in life, anecdotes of love, and celebrating life. Every song was written with the intention to play live and in a way, all of the songs are dedicated to the audience/listener. The Purpose of Life is To Feel is available on all streaming platforms.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacles have always been money and time but isn’t that the case for us all? Studio time is expensive, promotional efforts cost money and gear is another expense. Time is of the essence for an artist as well. I work a full-time job to fund my music and I’m the only one that funds it!

By the time I get home from work and life, I am not always in the mood to work on a song or produce a track. Other than that, other obstacles have been me and fear. I get in my own way a lot, worrying about whether or not I should put time and energy into my music. However, it is always rewarding.

If I could give my younger self any advice, it would be to let go of fear. I was so scared to write a song, let alone share it on the internet. There’s nothing to be afraid of, nothing happens by accident and I am where I am meant to be. As long as I am myself, everything else falls into place – that’s also what The Purpose of Life is To Feel is about.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create pop music. For me, pop music is blending the art of fantasy and reality in an easy-to-digest way. These stories are rooted in reality but presented in a fantastical way for audiences to dive into, escape, and feel free! I draw lots of inspiration sonically from the 70s and 80s while delivering sentimental, honest, cheeky, and fun lyrics at the same time.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can work with me by reaching out to me on Instagram @christianontheinternet! I would love to begin collaborating, writing together, and talking about music with other artists/musicians. It’s something that I hope to dive into as I work on what’s next. Colorado has a great music scene but I would love for us to collaborate more rather than compete.

I am also looking for bandmates to bring my show to life in a live setting! I am looking for a drummer, guitarist, bass player, and keyboard player! People can support me by streaming my music, sharing my songs, and buying a ticket to my shows. Eventually, they can buy merch too!
