Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Taylor.
Hi Daniel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am full-time yoga teacher in Denver. I teach to special audiences such as those experiencing incarceration and homelessness to combat mental health. My own mother is homeless and I lost my father to addiction, mental health is an important issue we all must address. Yoga has been a refuge for myself and my students. Providing access to tools for all to help combat the struggles we all experience. Tools accessible through my Yoga School, ViraVinyasa, and my nonprofit, Humble Foundation. Over the past 5 years, I’ve raised over 20k through my charity events and have taught to thousands. Due to my success, I’ve been able to travel around the world and study under the brightest minds.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Growing up in the socioeconomic class that I did, without parents. Statistically, I should be right next to those I teach to. In jail or on the streets. I understand a level of suffering that most cannot comprehend. That’s what’s made me successful. I understand my clients, I understand their pain. I am able to pair tools for self-regulation to set up myself and others for success
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
To learn how to study our body and mind is an art. How we optimized our experience is the lesson we are trying to wake to. Witnessing triggers and using tools to down-regulate. By studying ourselves we can take charge of our individual experience
What does success mean to you?
In an age where we cry mental health, do we talk about mental resilience? In the west we chase material facades, and have the most access to status yet we have the worst mental health. Look at suicide and drug addiction. I measure success by how content you are. Are you satisfied with the life you’ve built?
