Life & Work with Estefani Lopera Vallejo of Denver, Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Estefani Lopera Vallejo

Hi Estefani, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

My name is Estefani. I studied Photography, Graphic Design, and Marketing at university for nearly five years. My journey wasn’t easy. I chose a career that, although I was passionate about, was one of the most expensive, and my resources were limited. To finance my studies, I worked eight hours a day selling food in the market with my mother, while I spent the other eight hours attending university, doing assignments, and sleeping whenever I could. It was a time of great sacrifice, especially since I didn’t have the same resources as many of my classmates. In fact, I had to pause my studies for six months to take a second job as a cook, waitress, and cashier at a restaurant, doing whatever was necessary to get by.

Despite the hardships, I always had the unconditional support of my mother, who is the only one who truly knows how hard it was to achieve my goals. She was my biggest motivation and strength during those tough times.

My success story began in Colombia, the country where I was born and of which I am very proud to be a part. One day, I decided to apply for a job at one of the largest companies in the country. They offered me a position as an intern for six months, with the possibility of being hired permanently after that period. Although I didn’t have much professional experience, as I had just graduated from university, I eagerly accepted the opportunity because I knew that learning from the best in such a prestigious company would be invaluable.

After six months, not only was I promoted, but I also became the top performer in sales, design, and the right hand of the company’s owner, thanks to my dedication, impeccable work, and the knowledge I had gained during my studies. Over the years, I continued working there and, at the same time, developing my profession independently.

Eventually, I decided to move to the United States, where I’ve had the privilege of working with outstanding people and brands. I am deeply grateful for everything God has done in my life and for the perseverance that has allowed me to keep going despite the challenges. I have always tried to look at the positive side of life, guided by strong values and respect in everything I do.

Today, I look back and am thankful for every effort, every sacrifice, and every difficult moment, because they have shaped me into the person I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

“Limited financial resources, growing up without a father, discrimination in certain places, lack of opportunities due to not speaking perfect English.”

Let me know if you’d like any further adjustments!
Although I feel proud because I am bilingual, even though I don’t speak English perfectly, I can manage, and I feel proud because it took me a lot of effort to learn it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a photographer, I specialize in capturing images that communicate a message or tell a story. My work involves shooting in various environments, whether in restaurants, with families, or at events, using lighting and composition techniques to achieve the ideal result. I also handle editing and post-production, adjusting the images to meet the objectives of the project or the client’s needs.

In terms of graphic design, I focus on creating visual elements such as logos, websites, and communication materials. Graphic designers combine images, text, and other elements to convey ideas effectively. My role as a photographer is to capture those images, while graphic design takes care of organizing and presenting them within a broader, more complete context.

How do you think about happiness?
Create, design, and ensure that my clients are happy with every project I deliver.
