Today we’d like to introduce you to Hustle Jamez.
Hi Hustle , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is rooted in creativity, hustle, and purpose. I’ve always been a creative at heart, but I didn’t stop there. I learned marketing, sales, hand digital strategy to back my vision with real-world skill. I created Vocal Leaf Tea to support creatives like me—especially vocalists—using my knowledge of tea wellness and branding. That grew into a lifestyle brand. From there, I expanded into multimedia, event production, and strategic marketing, building brands that reflect my culture and community. Now, as Hustle Jamez, I lead several ventures, serve as a creative strategist and speaker, and use music as a platform to inspire others to choose hustle over hope. Every project I touch is about ownership, connection, and impact.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never been a smooth road. Life throws things at you that no degree or strategy can prepare you for. I lost seven family members in eleven months. It started with my nephew Matthew, who was wrongfully murdered—shot twice in the back by someone he didn’t know. He wasn’t in the streets. He was a creative, loved anime, and looked out for his mom and sisters. That loss shattered our family. Then came six more—from young to elder. Grieving while building a brand, launching music, and showing up for others hasn’t been easy. But I use that pain as fuel. That’s why I push ‘Hustle Over Hope’ so hard. I had to learn to hustle through the hurt.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multidimensional creative entrepreneur and artist performing under the name Hustle Jamez. My work sits at the intersection of music, wellness, and culture. I specialize in building brands with purpose—whether it’s my music, Vocal Leaf Tea, or community-focused projects.
What I’m most proud of is being featured alongside the legend Rakim through my collaboration with Jermani Muzic—those moments validate the grind. My single Hustle Over Hope is currently being played on 104.7 The Drop here in Denver, which is big for independent artists in this region.
What sets me apart is that everything I do is rooted in impact. I don’t just drop songs—I build experiences, platforms, and ecosystems. Every project I touch has a lane for culture, commerce, and community to overlap.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
When it comes to protecting the intellectual property of your music, you have to treat it like a business from day one. Some essential tools I use include the Library of Congress for proper copyright registration, BMI (or ASCAP) to set myself up as both a writer and a publisher, and SoundExchange to collect digital performance royalties. I also use Luminate, SoundScan, and ISRC registration via USISRC.org to ensure my releases are properly tracked and monetized across platforms. These aren’t just resources—they’re your foundation. You can’t call yourself an independent artist if your business isn’t in order.
