Life & Work with Jade Sharrer of Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Sharrer

Jade, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved traveling and occasionally I would create TikTok’s of my international travel or at times Colorado activities. A couple of my videos went viral and I noticed there was an interest in Colorado activities that I love to do and a community that I wanted to be more apart of. I wanted to share more and discovered UGC (user generated content) through TikTok and thought it could be fun to try. I also learned about working with tourism boards and those were some of my first partnerships. It was a nice hobby for me as my boyfriend had started his graduate program and had become a lot busier. I never thought it would turn into what it is today!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the beginning I was surprised by the amount of unkind words on the internet I would receive. Some about sharing things in Colorado and some specifically about me. It has gotten easier over time but that was something I didn’t really think about until I experienced it. I actually almost stopped sharing and thought about deleting my account, but I am glad to have found a supportive creator community! It has been a learning process with working with businesses and brands advocating for myself as a small business. I think like with everything there are moments that you learn from.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My Instagram and TikTok account is Colorado Mountain Towns. I create videos to share about experiences, small businesses, places to stay, things to do, outdoor gear, etc. with the emphasis on Colorado and outdoors. My goal is to make travel and planning easier as that is one of my favorite things to do but I know it is a barrier for some.

My full time job the past 7 years has been occupational therapy- pediatrics and geriatrics. This August I have actually decided to go part time with my occupational therapist job in order to pursue this entrepreneur/creator journey more. I am proud of being able to pursue this as a business. My sister, who is a professional photographer, moved out here in February and it has been so exciting to be able to partner together for brands and Airbnbs while also getting to show her some of the best spots in Colorado. Something unique is I also have a long term rental property and a short term rental too!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself continuing to create for sure. I love it and it has been so exciting and rewarding. I would like to expand more to sharing a variety of things including gear I would recommend and maybe a little more about me personally and my dog, Addie. I do plan to continue to work with Airbnbs, brands, and potentially even coaching as I love teaching and supporting others no matter what career I am in. I do also want to continue working my occupational therapist job, manage my rental properties and excited for what else the future will bring!
