Life & Work with Jason Adamchak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Adamchak.

Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story started when my brother and his girlfriend at the time, which is now his wife, took me to my very first music festival in Tampa, Florida, back in 2012. The name of the festival was Sunset Music Festival. The moment I walked into the environment, vibes and the people were all different. I saw walks of life from all over the world getting along and music that touched our souls. I knew from that moment on that I wanted to be a part of this community, not only as a fan but to work in the music industry. From that point on, I traveled to several different events and festivals within the United States, networking and learning from each festival as much as I could soak in. I took on many internships at public relations agencies, wrote for music blogs, worked for a record label, and covered festivals as press to keep absorbing everything I could while attending college as a full-time student and working other non-music jobs at the time. I was even a part of a start-up business in the music industry that focused on artist management, film & photography, and a written publication. I wanted to be as hands-on in this industry and give everything a turn. However, the music industry can get to your mental health at times, so I decided to take a step back and take a break because I felt like I was getting lost. In 2019, I took a break and wanted to attend events for fun and then come back in 2020. Little did we all know about the upcoming pandemic, but hindsight 2020 caused me to finally open and start my branding and marketing music agency which will lead me to my own goal of operating my music festival one day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Truthfully, it has not been a smooth road. Becoming a small business owner is the scariest decision I have ever made in my life. There are times where I will get lost in my thoughts for days because I wonder if I am making the right decision, but then I stop to breathe and think. I remind myself I am doing what I love and am passionate about. When I receive messages about how my writing or videos and photos have taken the reader or listener back to a time that made them feel a specific emotion, that keeps me going. The start-up costs for starting a business can also get to you at the time and can be intimidating.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So, I started my branding and music agency that focuses on electronic dance music for artists, labels, music venues, shows, festivals, and anyone else in the music industry. I also created my podcast called “Checking in with Adamchak.” The podcast focus on breaking the barriers of mental health in the music industry. I invite artists and significant people in the music industry to talk openly about their mental health. The music industry has lost too many people to mental health, and we need to be more open about it and articulate best practices before we lose more.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the culture and diversity that my city offers. We all come together in Atlanta to celebrate so much, and it helps create music that is not comparable to any other city. What I like least about my city is the lack of music festivals that we have here. The city of Atlanta is not good at keeping festivals. We had one of the largest dance music festivals in the U.S. called TomorrowWorld hosted a couple of years, but then it never came back, and then we also had another one hosted here called Shaky Beats, which was removed as well. The only one we have here is Imagine Music Festival.
