Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Creed.

Hi Jen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I actually first started my photography business while I was still in college (studying to be a music ed major). I’ve always had a bit of the entrepreneurial bug since I was a kid, but it grew and changed from something that I just sort of stumbled into, into a business that I’ve built with intention and heart that has taken me all over the world and connected me with some of the kindest and most inspiring humans.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha! I actually laughed out loud at this one. Although truly, the majority of the struggles along the way were ones that came from my own brain. I firmly believe that success has a lot more to do with your mindset and self belief than your actual skills, and once I started becoming more intentional about my business, I had a lot to work through and heal. Believing that I had the resources to figure out any problem that might come my way, and that I was capable of creating the kind of business I wanted to create, has allowed me to show up and create for my clients and also empower them in a whole new way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in reflecting people’s magic back to them–mostly through photography (I also am a coach for women business owners)! I believe that everyone has a unique magic they bring to the world, and love creating intentional experiences where we can document that. To have a visual representation of a piece of your life where you are shining, surrounded by love, and present with your people. Whether that’s a couple on their wedding day, a family wanting to remember a sweet season, or kick-ass business owners who are transforming lives for their clients.

It’s such a gift to create images for my clients you can carry with you into different seasons of life, where you can look back and see this thread of love and joy and magic that exists in your life–especially through the hard seasons. My approach is natural and documentary, but with a care and intention that creates space for the creative magic to show up. I’m not the photographer for people who just want to check photos off their to do list, with just the look at the camera and smile images in a cookie cutter location. We work together to create an intentional experience, a time to make a memory, and allow your unique magic to shine.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey has been how to trust and believe in myself, and allow myself to take up space. More than anything, the thread that ties all my work together is my belief that women are powerful. And when there are more women living a life that lights them up, being in their magic, I believe the world is a better place. There are so many voices telling women to stay small, to not rock the boat, and to do what everyone else is doing to fit in. As I’ve grown, it’s been my most important work to learn that I have everything I need inside me, and show up as my full self for myself, my family, and my clients.
