Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenavi Sauceda.
Hi Jenavi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
It was just a wild idea to bring Halloween and Horror movies together as a movie-watching experience for adults to enjoy during Halloween that wasn’t a Haunted House or bar with a costume party prize that could be year-round as a pop-up event. I wanted to do a pilot to bring my thoughts and ideas out in physical form so we hosted a pilot event in my parent’s backyard.
We opened it up to friends and family and held 2 events in October. There was a lot of great feedback and the vision felt doable. This year, we are holding our debut event at a cannabis bar called “JADS Mile High Smoke” to anyone 21 and up to come to enjoy and elevate their movie-watching experience.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road AT ALL haha. The struggle I’ve run into is getting the public to understand the concept of The Horror Project and because we are a new attraction in Denver, we don’t have many promotional videos and pictures to share. We have run into the question of ” Well, what is it?” a lot so it’s been a challenge to come up with creative ways to get the point across.
Personally, I am a very “behind-the-scenes” and somewhat of an introvert person so, having a passion for events and Halloween is a challenge when putting your ideas for people to see and critique. It’s something I’m letting my guard down for in this whole process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
During the day, I work as a Student Support Liaison in a school district. It has always been a passion to work in schools and support students however I can. I also own a direct-to-garment printing business! It’s a machine that prints directly onto the shirt just like a paper printer would on paper.
That’s what I am mostly known for. I have been making shirts since the beginning of time haha so it’s something I started in March of 2023. I have done event coordination in the past and fell in love with it. I knew it was something I wanted to pursue and I love Halloween so I sat down, wrote up a business plan, and went to work.
What sets me apart is if I want it, I’m going to go get it. I am super tenacious and willing to go through the storm. Sure, I have my moments, but who doesn’t? As the late great Aaliyah once said.” At first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.” That’s all it comes down to.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
You don’t see much diversity in The Halloween/Horror industry, so I need to implement and create a community of Halloween/Horror events that are put on for the culture and bring something new and exciting for everyone to enjoy.
Just as the addition of colors brings life and diversity to the film, incorporating cultural elements into these events, will make them more inclusive and engaging, allowing everyone to feel comfortable and truly enjoy the experience.
