Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerod Young.
Hi Jerod, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My creative journey began in high school. In high school, I was obsessed with card tricks, and I began videoing my card tricks on my phone and posting the videos to Instagram. This led to making YouTube vlogs and eventually getting a TikTok. In the summer of 2020, I created a TikTok series that generated over half a million views and actually landed me a job working for a marketing agency.
This agency was the first of many job opportunities that would last the next 3 years of my life. As of today, I recently moved to Denver to partner with an agency in the area called Maltav Media. I also work as a freelance filmmaker for many organizations across the States.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This is a silly question! Of course, it’s been a little rough here and there, that’s the whole point of exploring. Recently the biggest struggle has been moving away from my hometown and community to pursue career growth. I was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, and have lived here my entire life, up until January of 2024.
Over the last 3 years of working as a professional in the Pueblo area, I have realized that I didn’t have a lot of opportunities for career growth. Pueblo isn’t really a hub for creative professionals, and definitely not a hub for commercial production. This led me to begin considering opportunities elsewhere, and I’m excited to share that I recently moved to the Denver area to work on various productions here.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work as a Creative. Most of my work is photo/video production. I specialize in short-form storytelling. Back home I am known for my creative transitions and fun vlogs, but now I would like to say that I have grown past those things and am known for being a confident personality that people can trust with their story. I help people tell stories in visual ways that are easy to digest.
I am most proud of my wide range of skills when it comes to content creation. I’m familiar with working as a client manager, director, camera operator, editor, photographer, and social media specialist. I believe what sets me apart from others is my values. I value service, I respect people, I don’t practice gossip, I tell the truth, and I always practice a great attitude. I like to think that my values come through in my work.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m not a big reader, the only thing I consistently read is my Bible. I like to think that the Bible goes far beyond spiritual ideas and addresses a lot of issues that most business and self-help books barely touch. If you don’t believe me, try it out for yourself.
