Life & Work with Jg of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jg

Hi JG, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started making music in 2019 in the college dorms with my football teammates. At first, it was freestyles and fun. I fell in love with the process of recording and hearing myself on instrumentals. I knew I could take it to a more professional level and knew this is what i wanted to do once I got into a professional studio. Since I was a kid, music has always been such an influential aspect in my life. I wouldn’t be anywhere in my music career if it wasn’t for the artists that shaped me into the artist I am.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has never been a smooth road being an independent artist. The struggles with paying for all the promotions and studio sessions alone can be overwhelming. It takes an army and group of people to get where you are wanting to go, and some people fall of the ladder. A lot of friends and fans don’t understand the concept of losing money to make money in the long run. Some don’t understand the struggle of trusting the process. It’s the beauty of being an artist.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter, producer and engineer. I am a versatile artist that creates hip-hop, r&b, punk, metal, EDM and soul music. My creation come solely off of the mood I am in. I create off of personal experiences, life stories and ambitions. I am most proud of being a self-producing artist. I take pride in being different from others. I want to inspire other artists to be different as well.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that you have to love the music you make before anyone else will love it. You have to be your own biggest fan. I’ve learned that setting trends instead of following them brings longevity.
