Life & Work with Kate Buffington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Buffington.

Hi Kate, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started flipping furniture for ourselves and a few friends in 2015 By August 2016, I sold my first piece to a stranger! Slowly, I began perfecting my craft and turning more unwanted headed-to-landfill furniture into timeless pieces again. I now have an LLC and operate as a one-woman, and my hubs helping the show! I love working on antique and vintage dressers, buffets, hutches and customizing them to fit my client’s homes. I am also a part-time teacher and mom of three, so I’m busy!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mostly smooth! Owning a small business you just have to always be “on-call” and there are no paid sick days. I love what I do, so overall I can’t complain.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own my own small business Kate’s Reclaimed LLC, where I refurbish old furniture. I love taking something someone wants to get rid of and making it a piece they’d want to buy back from me. I keep trying to learn new practices with my pieces and try new techniques. I have found the products and process that works for me and I just really love making an old piece of furniture shine again!

How do you define success?
I think success is feeling that sense of accomplishment when you know you have given your all.

Pricing:
