Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Hopkins.
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Tall Team Training because I knew that as a tall lanky guy I needed to learn more about what effect my height had on my training. I had suffered from wrist and back injuries in the past after following training plans I found online. I now have my personal training certificate and am now about to graduate as a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado. With this knowledge, I hope to help as many tall lanky folks gain muscle pain-free as possible.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a rough start due to the fact that I started during COVID and right as I began graduate school. I also had multiple people tell me that my idea would never work because nobody else was working with taller athletes. While studying for my doctorate I’ve learned that there are many things out there that don’t have tons of research to back them up but are still very real.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in physical therapy for tall jump sports athletes. This includes mostly basketball and volleyball. These body types often require specific training and rehab to optimize performance or recovery. I am this same body type and love to help folks accelerate the process.
What makes you happy?
Working out and building training and rehabilitation programs as a personal trainer or student physical therapist. I love the process of figuring out how to optimize performance for a unique person, their body, and their goals. It sounds clique, but I just like to help people discover the love for their body.
