Life & Work with Nicole Thao

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Thao.

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Photography has always been a passion of mine. I started out with Nature Photography and grew more and more in love with the idea of getting behind a camera and capturing not only the beauty of Nature. But also capturing Families, Couples, and more! After my own wedding in 2018, I had decided it was time to truly start in my passion! I started off with Family Portraits and Senior Photos and grew into doing Weddings and Elopements! I took my own wedding experiences and put them into my work! I am in love with detail photos, (the dress, shoes, rings, flowers!) As well as capturing the guests! I like to do things a bit differently and I think that is a part of my appeal as a Photographer!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road! I started my Business at the beginning of 2020 3 months before COVID, unfortunately, I received a lot of cancelations. I had a really hard time getting things going again when the world has shut down. I focused a lot on learning and practicing on Family and friends! Once things with COVID had started to settle down a bit, I was able to start getting back clients who had postponed weddings and events. Since then, I have started booking more and even have some inquiries about 2022!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Many Photographers have their own style! I find that I lean more towards light and airy photos with some Black and White mixed in! I specialize in outdoor ceremonies with the natural lighting. The natural lighting makes the photos just pop! Plus, here in Colorado, you can get those Mountain views in almost every picture! I am most proud of all the wedding I have done! Each one is different and has different aspects to them at allow for growth in my business! I try to look at the good in every single session I have done! There is a book called ” The Travelers Gift” by  Andy Andrews and it has changed the way I view everything in life!

What sets me apart from others is the way I conduct business regarding portraits. I have set rates that include almost all edited images after editing. A few packages do not include all images in which case the rest can be purchased at another rate. However, I believe that a Bride and Groom should receive all their photos and not have to worry about picking and choosing which ones to purchase! This is just from personal experience!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
A favorite childhood memory of mine is climbing the tree in front of our house! My Papa would act mad that we were in there but would help us up and down all the time! That and wrestling on the floor! My Papa passed in 2020 on my birthday. I now find it as a blessing that it happened on that day. Because he is in every single memory I have as a child. He helped raise me and believed I could do anything I set my mind to. He is the reason I keep doing what I love.
