Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Condopoulos.
Hi Peter, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had recently gotten divorced and had been living in my car. During my homelessness, I received a beep from an old musician friend. He asked me to call him and asked me what I was doing.
He said that he had a friend in downtown Cincinnati and was looking for someone – and he told me that he thought of me immediately. He told me it was about a talent agency. I asked – “what do they do?” He said, “I don’t know, I think they do film and television.” I asked, “What like dog and clown acts?”
So, he gave me the address to go to. This parking lot where I had to be for an interview was the exact place where I was residing in my car. I looked up, and there it was. Let’s just say, the rest is history.
Fifteen years later, I bought the company. Now I’m a proud owner of an award-winning SAG-franchised agency representing over 1,200 people coast to coast. Now I’m helping people create their dreams and goals in the film/television industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While growing the agency, one of the biggest hurdles I had to face was finding a suitable office for our expansion.
Changing over franchises, finding the right talent, regaining the rapport, etc. Our industry is based on respect and reputation. Starting from scratch, with anything, is always a difficult process.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are an award-winning agency that casts for major motion pictures. We recently booked speaking roles in major films starring Robert DeNiro, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, etc.
We cast for major television shows – Chicago PD/Fire/Med, etc. I’m proud of maintaining our commitment to the industry and our talent. We take pride in our work. I’m also proud of my hardworking staff.
My primary agents, Brandi Botkin (who is currently starring in commercials as the “face of Xavier University”) and Johanna McGinley (who recently booked a role in “Chicago PD”) – both are excellent talent agents as well as actors.
My bookkeeper, Natalie Lowry – keeps us organized and is a generous spirit. My part-time employees – Peg Berry and Jocelyn Tanis – are key players at this agency and very valued here at PCG.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about the city is the versatility and progressiveness of not just the city, but the state. What I like least about the city is the constant construction work, in both downtown Denver and Aurora.
