Life & Work with Rudi Monterroso of Littleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rudi Monterroso.

Hi Rudi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Guatemala during the Civil War, I did not have toys or places to play. So I started to create structures with friend using branches and whatever materials we could find. The structures were simple but full if magic and we would transport to places using our imagination. We created a safe haven for us and other junker kids where we had the opportunity to be kids and play feeling safe. When I had y children in Colorado. I wanted to create unique spaces for them to use their imagination and have fun. I saw my kids using my first playhouse I made inspired on the hobbit hole structure and other fairy designs. I saw them play from baby toys ther to kitchen toys, to dolls, to legos, and now to reading area. I wanted to share this unique experience to other people and create unique crafted structures that will create long lasting memories. I over build over 30 structures, including playhouses, sheds, treehouses, jungle gyms, meditation rooms, office spaces, she sheds, craft rooms, guestrooms. I am now moving into building them on wheels as micro leaving spaces. These unique structures are completely of the greed, allowing one to take them anywhere. Solar powered, with kitchen and sink., bed and all the essentials to stay comfortable in a unique charming structure. This is the next step from glamping. It is all about the experience and learning to leave symple while embrace what natures has to offer. As a professional Artist for over 30 years I use all my skills to give a unique touch of charm to create each of my cozy structures a unique experiences.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With the economy, it has been very difficult to sale my work. But, I keep going hopping people discover my work and want one of the.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a color blind artist, I was able to find my own style and technique. For many years I felt that not been able to see color made me a handicap. Learning to paint with my fee through dance and movement I found my own technique that gave my work a fun style. Some times, what we think of weakness is our uniqueness. And if we are willing to ebace our uniqueness we can find our strains.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My child memory I reflect is remembering my father every morning seating by my bed. Telling stories and sharing his wisdom. His only request of me he said every morning before before he will give a kiss and wall away, was to be a good pers, honest and humble.
