Today we’d like to introduce you to Spiffy ($piffé) Evans.
Hi Spiffy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my music career early. Got my first studio set up in the 6th grade and haven’t looked back. I took a hiatus to chase a lifelong dream of playing in the NFL. I was blessed with a chance to attend Boston College and play football after turning down scholarships to play at over 50 Division 1 programs.
After a stent playing at FAMU and coaching at New Mexico State, I locked in professionally. I had the chance to tour with currency of jet life. And Jim Jones. Which gave me the chance to widen my family base.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to my goal has been very challenging but anything worth having will take some resolve to earn. Along the way to where I am now, I’ve overcome confidence issues. Art is so subjective that you sometimes question yourself when you are attempting to make a career of it.
Also funding. As an artist, it’s tough to barely keep the lights on so to produce high-level content on a budget has been tough. And reaching the masses as well. It’s one thing to start a business but the goal is always to grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m hip-hop to the core. I rap and produce poetry-driven music with meaning. I’m known for being the “edjekaded misfit” one that finds comfort in not feeling in.
I’ve toured with Jim Jones and Currensy of Jetlife. I’ve also had sessions with Grammy-nominated engineers and producers. What makes me different? I’m doing it with and for the family.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
You can do anything you make a plan to.
