Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Longman.
Steve, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the ice cream business in 2012 with a business partner. We opened Inside Scoop Creamery in Downtown Littleton. We’ve been making our own ice creams and sorbet from day one. Starting in April of this year, I opened a new location in NW Denver. It’s called Rosie’s Creme Glacee. Rosie is my four year old French Bulldog and our mascot. Creme Glacee is French for Ice cream. Our ice cream parlor opened up inside of an existing coffee shop (Devil’s Cup Coffee) on 44th Ave and Yates St. What’s better than coffee and ice cream under the same roof!
We serve 16 flavors, malts, shakes, rootbeer floats and Sundaes. We make our own waffle cones and our atmosphere is a really fabulous combination of hip coffee shop and a creative fun ice cream parlor.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Making ice cream and building a business that people love has been extremely rewarding! COVID was a real bummer for everyone. Restaurant became take-out only. We were so blessed to have a loyal customer base that did all they could to support us. I’ll always be thankful to so many wonderful people.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Spending about 1000 hours per year making ice cream brought out a creative side of me I didn’t know I had. I spent 20 years as a Chiropractor and loved the healing arts. It’s more scientific. Tests, x-rays, treatment plans, etc. Getting into our kitchen 4-6 times per week in the summer is really a different world. I can see why chefs enjoy the culinary arts. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different ingredients and combinations. Basil goes wonderful with Strawberry, Maple and Honey pair nicely with lavender. It’s really fun.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’ve learned that we all can roll up our sleeves and get through anything if we work together.
