Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Wood.
Hi Steve, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
We started as a group of creative types, who wanted to engage the community through puppet shows and parades, and it’s just grown to include construction, ecology, science education, job training, community resiliency, and on and on! Anything that builds community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an interesting awesome and windy path! We’ve met so many amazing people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We really have specialized as a group in making a LOT from a little. Our recycled material creations include tiny homes, 22-foot hammers, a dragon, and a 12′ pumpkin, and we’ve kept literally tons and tons of material out of the landfill. Most of our projects use 60-99% recycled materials!
Any big plans?
We’re building an office and caretaker residence on a community park… its a huge deal, but we have so many community partners who are joining and helping us.
