Life & Work with TJ Grisel of FORT COLLINS

Today we’d like to introduce you to TJ Grisel.

Hi TJ, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was an environmental scientist treating water. I realized I like people more than I liked equipment. I then gave a motivational speech at my high school which I had never done before and got high remarks. This sparked the flame to take action toward developing skills in leadership and communication. This has led me to 10 years in the game working on the skills. After winning some speech competitions and doing some coaching with friends on their communication skills for interviews and high stake conversation situations, I decided to move forward to make this more than just giving my time for free. Today, I am still in practice of building these skills and taking what I am still learning to helping others level up their communication,

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road and I would not want it that way. I am still struggling with all the same aspects that businesses have like a constant flow of business. I have struggled to want to make content even though I know how important it is. I have started though and am no longer worried about the outcome. There is that saying that you dont have to be great to start but you have to start to be great. I have also struggled with the inner voices that try to limit me even though I know I have what it takes. I have struggled with how to best price my services so I can help as many as possible but not undersell myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in helping build themselves from within to lead and communicate without. I am know for high energy, uplifting and edifying others. My style is that of a coach as I have been coached nearly my whole life in one way or another. I am most proud of listening to my inner voice that continues to tell me to continue on this path I am on. This is exactly where I am supposed to be. I have had opportunity to stray from the path but staying consistent in this lane has made me proud. I am different in that I help others find out who they are and help them lead and communicate from that place vs trying to fit what works from others into them.

What are your plans for the future?
My plan is to stay consistent and move forward. Right now I am working on establishing a YouTube channel and a Substack. I am currently in a speech competition and I am looking forward to learning more about myself and any winnings I achieve.
