Life & Work with Valerie Weyrich

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Valerie Weyrich again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Valerie, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
Hello, I’m Valerie! I’m a dedicated believer in holistic healing, faith, and deep love. I’ve been blessed with many teachers in my lifetime who have taught me how to heal and be healed, and live in the spirit of deep devotion and divine love. I’ve learned to believe that all medicine, rooted in love, is ultimately the same.

My own holistic health journey has brought me to a blend of and a deep appreciation for the practices of Yoga, Ayurveda, Jyotish, Gong Sound Healing, and Curanderismo. Although I don’t work with many titles at this point in my life, I tend to simply hold the role of a Space Holder. This comes in different forms from teaching adaptive and deep Restorative Yoga, Sound Healing with Gongs in public gatherings, Gong Therapy with clients one-on-one, teacher trainings, and offering birth chart readings through the lens of Jyotish (Vedic Astrology). I love the interweaving of these practices to meet others where they are and offer affirmation and the opportunity to heal holistically.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
I’ve spent over a decade offering public classes and Sound Healing gatherings. So when I asked myself how I wanted to grow or evolve my offerings, I decided to lean into the opportunity to work with others, both in teaching partnerships and one-on-one with clients.

My husband, Brian, completed a Gong Practitioner training with my teacher Mehtab Benton. This opened up amazing opportunities for us to play gongs together. Admittedly we have a very similar playing style simply because I’ve also been a teacher for Brian and we’ve played a lot of gongs together! Brian has a background in music, sound, video, and live production. So we’ve experimented with a few different ways to invite Brian’s talents into our collective offerings. We’ve synced our gongs to microphones connected to live projection art, very fun! And most recently, Brian started DJing my Yoga classes! So when we offer public gatherings there is a combination of Hatha Yoga with a live DJ set followed by an extended relaxation with our 4 planetary gongs.

Taking my experience with public gatherings to a one-on-one space has been expansive, and challenging at times, yet it has helped me truly trust the practices and myself as a Space Holder.

In the past year, I completed an Ayurvedic Body Therapies Training, began assisting with treatments at an Ayurveda clinic in Lakewood, AyuMind, and I completed a Gong Therapy training. I spent time over the Summer offering treatments to friends and family members. I conducted a Gong Therapy case study. And in the Fall, I signed on as a Provider at Nurture, a WellCare Marketplace in the Highlands.

At Nurture I offer Gong Therapy which uses the sound and vibration from planetary gongs to cultivate a state of deep relaxation, meditation, and introspection within a safe and nurturing environment, one-on-one. Combined with nourishing Ayurvedic herbal oil treatments, these healing modalities can create space for deep cleansing and release while cultivating well-being for the body and mind. I’ve come to hold this offering as “vibrational limpia”, or cleanse.

One client said: “I did a Gong Therapy with Valerie and it was truly one of the most AMAZING healings I have ever received. I have never had a treatment like this before, but it was just what my body and soul needed. I left feeling like a spell of heaviness had been lifted. I will 100% return in the future for more healings.” – Kate

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.

  • Sweet or Savory: Sweet
  • Mountains or Beach: Mountains
  • As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up: A nun 🙂
  • Favorite Breakfast Food: French Toast!

What are you most excited about in the coming year?
I’m grateful for my one-on-one offerings at Nurture as a Provider and I’m planning a full year of offering public gatherings as well. I’ll be teaching Hatha Yoga + Sound Healing with Gongs at Nurture each month, likely around the New Moons. And I’ll continue to teach monthly classes at Yoga Pearl in Boulder, likely around the Full Moons. And in June, I’ll be taking my gongs on the road to hold space at the Spirit Weavers Gathering in Southern Oregon.

Outside of gongs and more gongs, Brian and I will continue to work on our gardens at home, hike with our pups, cook nourishing meals, seek out soaks in hot springs, and cultivate a sweet devoted life rooted in love.
