Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Mcmanus
Hi Victoria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I was five, I knew I wanted to be a cosmetologist. But when high school ended, I made a last-minute decision to go to college instead of pursuing cosmetology school. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology but still felt unsure about my career path. That’s when I decided to enroll in hair school while figuring things out — and it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. Almost six years later, I’m thriving in a career that reignited my childhood passion, and I couldn’t be happier that I followed my heart back to this creative and fulfilling path.
But my passion has always been about more than just hair. It’s intertwined with my love for helping others feel confident and heal from the inside out. I quickly noticed the energetic shifts my clients experienced after a haircut or color transformation — they would leave feeling lighter, refreshed, and renewed. That inspired me to begin integrating energy work into my services, creating a truly holistic and healing environment. I’m now at a place in my career where I feel fully aligned with my soul’s calling, and it’s been so rewarding to help clients experience both physical and energetic transformations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth sailing, despite how far I’ve come. Starting a business and learning a new craft comes with its own set of challenges, and when you combine that with life’s personal ups and downs, it can feel overwhelming at times. One of the biggest hurdles has been moving to two different states and three different cities while building my clientele. Each move meant starting over from scratch — going from being fully booked to having no clients at all. It was scary, but it pushed me to grow, work harder, and get creative in rebuilding my business. Every time I stepped out of my comfort zone, I found new ways to move forward and become stronger both personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At its core, my work is about transformation and healing. I’m a hairstylist specializing in custom hair color and extensions, but what truly sets my business apart is the experience I offer. My services go beyond the surface — I focus on creating a space where clients feel seen, connected, and uplifted. Whether it’s through a fresh color, an extension transformation, or energy-infused services like sound healing, I’m passionate about helping others express their true selves and leave feeling lighter and more confident.
What I’m most proud of is the way I’ve woven my passion for creativity and healing into my work. I don’t just do hair — I help clients shift their energy, heal, and step back into the world as their most vibrant, authentic selves. That’s the heart of my work and what continues to fuel my passion.
How do you define success?
I define success as living in alignment with my soul’s calling and creating a life that feels fulfilling, meaningful, and authentic. It’s not just about financial milestones or a fully booked schedule — it’s about the impact I make by helping people feel empowered, healed, and beautiful inside and out. Success is also about personal growth: stepping out of my comfort zone, learning from challenges, and continuing to evolve as both a stylist and a healer. If I’m doing work that lights me up and positively transforms the people who sit in my chair, that’s success to me.
